High-impact grammar starter slides for French GCSE. The slide features four scaffolded activities that engage high-ability learners and provide targeted support for foundation students. With a focus on essential verbs, this resource offers consolidation through repetition. All main tenses are covered for both higher and foundation tiers. I have added revision for adverbs and time phrases.
This is a sample. I use these as a booster, before exams, or as a weekly starter to support revision and consolidation.
A PowerPoint version with an additional 5 slides is available in my shop if you are interested.

With a focus on essential verbs, this resource offers consolidation through repetition. All main tenses are covered for both higher and foundation tiers. I have added revision for adverbs and time phrases.
Fully editable, you can choose to remove or swap verbs to suit your group’s needs. I chose to repeat verbs and time phrases across the slides for added support, and I have kept the tenses in order as well. I shuffle them for assessed tasks, but here the aim is consolidation.
• Task 1 is aimed at foundation students with a simple translation of frequently used verbs. I have chosen verbs they are likely to need in both the writing and speaking papers.
• Task 2 will likely be completed by both tiers and provides much-needed revision of adverbs and time phrases. This supports writing by adding variety and ensuring the use of the three time frames in the 90-word task (AQA).
• Task 3 is an overlapping task that provides foundation students with a challenge from Task 1 and serves as a stepping stone for higher-tier students before completing Task 4.
• Task 4 requires students to conjugate a given verb independently. I have increased the level of difficulty as we progress through the slides. They must also use adverbs and time phrases (linked to Task 2). A further challenge is offered to support the use of complex structures and a wide range of language by requiring different subject pronouns.
The colours used refer to our school taxonomy and enable our students to quickly assess the level of difficulty of a task. Please feel free to change them to suit your own organisation.
I have provided answers for the first three tasks on each slide (Task 4 will depend on the students’ own work).
