Sentence Writing Intervention A sentence writing booster/intervention that can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who are struggling with writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks and introduces children to 35 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw. Each week covers reading the focus high frequency words, writing the focus words, cutting and sticking words to make a sentence and then writing a dictated sentence. I have used this activity to encourage children to write sentences with capital letters and full stops and to hold and repeat the sentence in their head. The intervention helps children to gain confidence when they are writing sentences. HFW Reading Intervention A reading intervention that covers 100 high frequency words/HFW. The words are split into 13 sets with five activities for children to complete for each set. The activities are - read the words, find and colour the star words, match and colour words starting with upper and lower case letters, read the sentences including hfw and use the picture to fill in the missing word and read the sentences and draw a picture to match the sentences. Please note that the sets do not contain equal numbers of words due to needing to construct sentences that make sense. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children.

Capital Letters Activity An English activity focusing on capital letters, when to use them and what they look like. The PowerPoint shows the children all capital letters and the children then practise writing the capital letters. Children then write the capital letter to match the lower case letter. The Capital Letter Monster then eats some of the capital letters from the alphabet and children have to identify which letters have been eaten and write the capital letters on their whiteboards. Children are then shown sentences with missing capital letters and have to fill in the missing letters. The children will enjoy the fun element of having a monster eating the capital letters and I have used this in class when children have forgotten capital letters in their written work. Full Stops Lesson A complete English lesson covering how and when to use full stops. The lesson explains what a sentence is and when we need to use full stops. It focuses on the use of full stops only and not capital letters as I have found that children can struggle with learning both at the same time. During the main input children have to identify sentences and add full stops. The lesson includes three differentiated worksheets and a plenary. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children although could be used as a recap session or as part of an intervention or booster for Year 2 children.

Introducing Money A complete Maths lesson for introducing money and coins. The lesson covers the different coins and their value using pennies. There is an activity for swapping coins for a single coin to demonstrate that different coins can be used to make up different amounts and shows children that we need to add the amounts together and not simply count the coins. The lesson includes three differentiated money worksheets and a short plenary. Money Activity Cards A set of money activity cards covering coins only. The cards are split into three sets - cards showing one dot work with coins up to 5p and values below 10p, cards showing two dots work with coins up to 10p and values below 20p and cards showing three dots work with coins up to 20p and values below 30p. There are four activities in each set - Activity 1 - what could I buy with …p activity Activity 2 - adding prices Activity 3 - how much money is in the purse? Activity 4 - can you put the correct amount of money in the purse? I laminate these cards for use in Maths lessons and children select the challenge that they would like to complete - one dot, two dots or three dots. Suitable for Early Years and Year 1 children.

Counting Song Cards A set of counting song cards covering five counting songs. The songs are - Five Little Speckled Frogs Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer Five Little Ducks went Swimming One Day Five Currant Buns in a Baker’s Shop Ten Fat Sausages Sizzling in a Pan Each set of cards contains a picture scene for example a set of shelves or a spaceship and pictures to be cut out for example currant buns or aliens. Children add the correct number of objects to the scene then sing the song and take objects away. There is also a space for children to fill in the missing number or name. These cards can be laminated to use again. Aimed at Early Years and Key Stage 1 children Counting Song PowerPoints A set of counting song PowerPoints covering five counting songs. Happiness Assembly/Presentation A presentation aimed at Early Years and Key Stage 1 children about being a superhero and spreading happiness and smiles. The presentation explains that we all have a superpower and that superpower is making people smile. The presentation asks children to think about how they can make people smile and provides some ideas for how we can spread happiness. The presentation could be used as an assembly or during a PSHE discussion or lesson. The children will enjoy believing that they are a superhero and using their superpowers. Emotions Assembly/Presentation A presentation about emotions, what they are and how we can recognise and control them. This presentation can be used as an assembly or during a PSHE discussion or lesson about emotions. The PowerPoint includes questions for children to think about and answer. Can be used to help children to understand that everybody experiences positive and negative emotions and how we can deal with these emotions. Manners PowerPoint/Assembly A PowerPoint presentation focusing on manners and how we use them every single day. The presentation starts with some manners for sale and ends with the conclusion that manners cannot be sold, they are free and we can all use good manners everyday. The presentation includes examples and pictures of good manners. The presentation could be used as an assembly or as an introduction to manners for a PSHE lesson. Apologising/Saying Sorry Assembly/PowerPoint A PowerPoint presentation focusing on apologising and saying sorry. The presentation covers why we need to apologise and how it makes others and ourselves feel if we do something wrong. The presentation could be used as an assembly or as an introduction during a PSHE lesson. These presentations are suitable for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children.

Planning a Story An English activity to help children to plan a story in a step by step manner. This activity breaks down story planning into small chunks and enables children to plan each stage of the story. The activity encourages lots of talk and children enjoy sharing their ideas about the story. The activity encourages children to think about and describe their character, the setting and the time of their story. Children then plan the problem, what happens first, then and next and then the solution and the ending. The activity gives children different ideas and demonstrates to children that not all stories need to be the same as we all have different ideas and suggestions. I often take several days to work through this activity and to build story plans with the children and find that rereading our story plans regularly helps children when they reach the writing stage. This activity could be used in Early Years to introduce story planning and oral retelling of a story to the children or in Key Stage 1 to support children with story planning and story writing. Writing a Story An English story writing activity to support children when writing a story. Children plan their story using a story plan. This activity then demonstrates to the children how to write each part of their story using the story plan. I use this activity over several days to support children to write their story and will often cover several parts in one lesson with mini plenaries in between reminding children what their writing needs. Children like the little girl who pops up to ask questions to improve the story. The activity could be used in Early Years for orally retelling a story or in Key Stage 1 for writing a story.

Two fun Maths activity PowerPoints to introduce children to 2D and 3D shapes. The PowerPoints include interactive activities for the children to join in with. The PowerPoints show different 2D or 3D shapes and describes their properties. Children then have to guess the shape that is being described or the shape that is being slowly revealed. There is also a shape spotting activity and an odd one out activities. My classes have enjoyed using these PowerPoints to learn about 2D and 3D shapes and they encourage lots of talk about shapes. The activities could be used as a whole class activity or in small intervention groups. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children however could be used as a recap or booster session for Year 2 children.

There are opportunities throughout the presentation for the children to discuss their own ideas about resilience and how to become more resilient. How to be Amazing A PowerPoint presentation about being amazing. The presentation explains that we are all amazing and that we all do amazing things every day. There are opportunities throughout the presentation for the children to discuss their own ideas about being amazing and the final slide encourages children to celebrate their own and other people’s amazingness. Rules A PowerPoint presentation about rules. The presentation explains what rules are and why they are important. The presentation also talks about what would happen if we didn’t have any rules. There are opportunities throughout the presentation for the children to discuss their own ideas about rules. Accepting Challenges A PowerPoint presentation about challenges. The presentation explains that every challenge comes with a reward and then gives some examples of these rewards. The presentation also talks about how we might feel when faced with a challenge and how we feel when we achieve a challenge. There are opportunities throughout the presentation for the children to discuss their own ideas about challenges. These presentations could be used as an assembly or during a PSHCE lesson. Aimed at Early Years and Key Stage 1 children.
