Create your own spooky ghost
Follow the step by step instructions carefully!
The instructions are presented as a powerpoint slideshow and as a printable version.
Images of every step are provided!
The ghost printout could be printed onto card for more rigidity, but a4 paper works fine.
Students shouldn’t need more than 50cm of tape.
Students may want assistance punching a hole in the top of the ghost so it can hang / float.
This could be an individual or pairs activity.
For a dramatic finish, use a torch below to light up your spooky ghost!
A complete set of 1-144 Multiplication Array Cards.
These can be used in lesson for a variety of topics including:
Multiplication
Division
Area (by counting squares)
Fractions of an amount
Each card is underlined so the orientation is row x column.

Practice key vocabulary using these 100 Sentence Stems.
Each card contains :
A Sentence Stem with (Number) or (Item) in brackets.
An example using the Sentence Stem.
A blank Sentence Stem without any (Number) or (Item) in brackets for the student to write their own sentence.
Topics Include:
Place Value (General)
Place Value Above 10
Cardinality and Comparison
Roman Numerals
Occasionally options are provided for students to use, such as: ___ is more / less than ___.
These cards could be laminated and grouped together and used within lessons as a manipulative.
Students should be encouraged to say / write each sentence.
Ideas for use:
Share the cards amongst small groups of students. Students can each write their own sentences based on the examples and vocabulary highlighted in each Sentence Stem. Switch the cards between groups.
Hang some examples around the room. Students can go up to a card and write their own answer in their books (this must be a complete sentence).
Use other resources such as Head Start Maths - Counting and Cardinality Slideshow to provide a context to the Sentence Stems.
Get students to pick a sentence stem at random and get the whole class to write the sentence stem on a mini whiteboard and then hold up their answers. Students can discuss these with each other as a whole class activity.
Create a display with each Sentence Stem card. Laminate each card and place some whiteboard pens near the display board for students to fill in values. Students can use these to ask each other questions.
Hand each student a card. Students ask each other questions within pairs. Once they have answered each other correctly, switch cards and ask another student in the class.
If you have any more ideas on how to use these in lessons, please let me (and others) know by leaving a comment!
This activity is designed to practice:
Expressing one quantity as a percentage of another.
Questions gradually increase in difficulty with some skills based, and some worded problems including obtaining information from sets of data.
As always, all answers are provided (separate doc)
This activity is designed to practice:
Area and Perimeter of Circles, Semicircles, Arcs and Sectors

Parts of a circle
Key formulae
Circumference of a circle
Area of a circle
Area of a semicircle
Area of a sector
Arc length of a semicircle
Perimeter of a semicircle
Perimeter of a sector

Use these student friendly questions to help lead them in discussions about problems involving place value.
This resource can be used alongside the place value / number / Roman Numeral cards available in the bundle:
https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-13133846
This activity can be used to practice a variety of different objectives:
3C1: Add and subtract numbers mentally, including:
A three-digit number and ones
A three-digit number and tens
A tree-digit number and hundreds
3C6: Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables.
4C6a: Recall Multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 x 12.
5C1: Add and Subtract numbers mentally with increasingly large numbers.
5C6a: Multiply and divide numbers mentally drawing upon known facts.
6C6: Perform mental calculations, including with mixed operations and large numbers.
Description of Activity:
Place three piles of cards at the front on the room. The first pile contains two sets of 0-9 digit cards, the second pile contains the four operations (+×-÷), and the third pile contains one set of 0-9 digit cards. Call up three students. The first student takes one digit card at random from the pile in front of them. The second person chooses an operation from the set of 4, and the third student picks one 0-9 digit card from their pile. The rest of the class calculate the value mentally and write down their answer on a mini whiteboard. After the teacher holds up the equals button, students hold up their answers.
Lots of differentiation strategies and Hints and tips provided.
This resource is designed to practice:
Multiplying decimals by 10 and 100.
Students can work in pairs to complete the main set, filling in the blank value.
Now with TOP TIP animations and student friendly QUESTION PROMPTS
Challenge A: Add a new layer of difficulty by grouping these challenge cards with the main set. Each card is either (number) x 1 or number x (blank) to get students to discuss how values they have found are equivalent to multiplying another number by 1. This challenge includes thousands and decimals up to 2dp.
Challenge B: Add even more difficulty by grouping these challenge cards with the main set. Each card is either (number) x 1000 or number x (blank) to get students to discuss how values they have found are equivalent to multiplying another number by 1000. This challenge includes thousandths (3dp).
Challenge C: Challenge students individually after the main set by handing them these cards. Cards still focus on x10 and x100 but with more difficult values including those with 0 place holders and decimals up to 3dp.
As always, answers are included.
Use the Head Start Maths Number Grids, Place Value Charts, Roman Numerals/ Worded/ Coin and Number Cards from 0-100 as a great set of manipulatives in your classroom.
These can be used together as a matching activity, used individually for students who require targeted 1-2-1 support, or use them as a whole class activity with students finding their family (even numbers / numbers that round up / number bonds to 20.
Students can be given any of the three cards which helps with differentiation and encourages students to discuss their card values with each other, helping support their oral literacy.
Example questions have been provided which students can use directly to aid discussion.
All the cards are the same size and distributed equally.
This activity is designed to practice:
Finding the Nth Term of a Quadratic Sequence
Using the Nth Term of a Quadratic Sequence
Questions are a mixture of difficulty, exam-style questions.
Includes 5 quick questions task
As always, all answers are provided
This activity is designed to practice:
Writing a composite number as a product of prime factors
Working with composite numbers written in prime factorised form (index form)
Questions initially look at prime numbers and follow into prime factor decomposition using factor trees (fluency). Questions then look in more detail at the index form and calculating with numbers in index form, and recognising square numbers.
HCF and LCM are not addressed in this resource deliberately so that students spend time understanding the prime factorised form, rather than carrying out a process.
As always, answers are provided.
This activity is designed to practice:
Forming and Solving Equations including:
Area
Perimeter
Angle Fcats
Angles in Polygons
Angles in Parallel Lines
Volume and Surface Area
Arithmetic Srquences
Probability
Venn Diagrams
Compound Measures
Real Life Problems (Phone Contracts, Work rates and Buying a Car)
Multiple questions are provided on each topic, of which they increase in difficulty using variation theory.
As always, all answers are provided (separate doc)
