Focus on conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense. The challenge cards are perfect for advanced beginner French and students preparing for intermediate French students, who are really getting to grips with the concept of conjugation. This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their conjugation skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and certainly in conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense in particular. To get the most from the questions, I frequently look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices - identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses. These Spanish Christmas Numbers 0-31 task cards are perfect for beginner Spanish learners, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practicing language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester. The questions are entirely in Spanish, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of Spanish in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in Spanish in general, and certainly in Spanish numbers and Spanish Christmas vocabulary in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, not only in terms of calculation, but also in terms of the level of Spanish - they are aimed at advanced beginner Spanish learners, rather than new or recent beginners. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context and images, which have a real Spanish Christmas theme, such as el turrón and las uvas, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarise themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have regular and frequent opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. The Spanish Christmas vocabulary provides a really useful springboard for discussion about Christmas customs and traditions in Spain, Spanish regions, and other Spanish-speaking countries too, comparing and contrasting these to other Christmas practices students may know. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards = answer recording sheet & answer key = question card template Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources, including Spanish dollar deals, special offer bundles, and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y FELIZ NAVIDAD!

For additional consolidation, each grid also features a Spanish word list that they have to complete, as extra practice for saying and writing the days of the week together in both English and Spanish - this works really well for embedding language. There are also 5 Spanish to English grids, labelled with the Spanish flag, where the prompt words are given in Spanish, and learners have to find the English equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in English, they also complete the English word list on each page. Ideal for advanced beginner English into intermediate English, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of this essential English language in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and some call upon prior knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some words students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too, which is essential for progress in language learning. There is a significant amount of practice and consolidation of language and grammar, such as word order, punctuation, nuances of spoken versus written language, tense, and ordinal / cardinal numbers. This maximizes the learning potential of the activity, which I take further when we look at multiple choice questions seeking to identify errors - being able to identify errors, and explain what is inaccurate, is again a really important language learning skill, and really helps students progress successfully in their learning. There are 48 Christmas words featured, and there’s a full English Christmas vocabulary list in the pack. The words focus on UK-based Christmas vocabulary, such as Boxing Day and Christmas crackers - it’s a great way of stimulating discussion about cultural, religious and national traditions and practices. There are some religious words in the searches, such as Nativity and Three Kings / Three Wise Men. There are also four question and answer key grid templates for learners to create their own searches for each other — this is a really popular activity, and I’ve found that my learners often like to create grids for family at home too. These word searches are an ideal introduction to conjugating French verbs and perfect for practicing the correct conjugation of two key French verbs: être and avoir. We do lots of comparison with English, and discuss both similarities and differences - this helps students think about patterns in verb conjugation and how languages work in general. They also help young beginners familiarise themselves with personal pronouns in French. I use word searches a lot in my languages classroom - they’re ideal for encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, and for building vocabulary. I differentiate the grids, so that there is plenty of increasing challenge, that I give students time to work through - this way I can be sure that all my students are motivated to progress. This set features 5 French-French grids, and 5 English-French grids - this gets students applying their developing knowledge of French a little differently. There’s additional consolidation: students have to complete a verb list in each grid too. I always give answer keys - for me, that’s an essential part of the learning - they give students an extra opportunity to engage with language, and they also help students develop more independence in their learning. Students also genuinely enjoy checking their own and each others’ work. The format of the word searches is a single grid per 8.5 x 11, landscape format, mirroring the direction of reading from left to right in both French and English. These How to tell time in Spanish task cards are perfect for developing Spanish language skills in general, as well as for practicing and revising how to tell time in Spanish. Each set has 60 cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, with a full answer key and a recording sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. Task cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary and structures, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practice how to tell time in Spanish, but also to enjoy working independently with language, and to feel confident about doing so. Students sometimes find learning how to tell the time in another language quite challenging, so the focused practice is really useful. The questions in this set are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, analog clock times in Spanish, and also to working and learning with task cards. I generally work with telling time in Spanish quite quickly with my beginner Spanish students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in the classroom, discussing daily routines for example. There are two questions: ¿Qué hora es? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. I’ve only used the plural form of the question in these cards. The second question is Verdadero o falso? and students write either verdadero or falso - where the answer is falso remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and time creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. It’s also a really popular activity too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. I prepare each set of cards on different color paper, so that when students are working with both sets, they can organize them into the relevant set really easily. The cards are numbered 1-60 in words, so students should recap those numbers before they work with the task cards. There are Spanish Numbers 0-100 lists in my store which you can download for free - my students find them really helpful. Each set comprises the following non-editable files: 60 cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminating is definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as the cards are far more learner-friendly, and stay in excellent condition for a long time, so you’ll be able to recycle them for years. 2-page answer recording sheet. Best printed double-sided to save paper. My students generally use their class workbooks to note their answers, though I do use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated if possible. For me, answer keys are an integral element to this kind of learning activity. They offer students an additional opportunity to engage with language, and to develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver, which is always a good thing! I distribute one answer key per small group when we’re working with the task cards in class time. I’ve described the games as not grade-specific, as the general goal for me is not to learn a lot of French Christmas vocabulary as such, but to work quite specifically on French language skills development. There are 100 grids in total, in both color & BW. The color grids definitely look really good, but can prove expensive to prep - I have sets that I’ve laminated, and students use wipe-free pens, so that the grids can be used many times. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-use license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Task cards are an ideal language learning activity, providing multi-skill language learning opportunities. These sets are ideal for a range of French language grades. This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The differentiated questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and on the focus language, for example, conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense in particular. I use task not only when we’re focusing on the focus language and grammar, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. The goal is not simply to learn how French works, and how patterns can be identified and applied, it’s also about enjoying working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions are differentiated, and range in complexity and challenge, with some calling specifically upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and question formats in French. The question card template available in some sets enables students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element to successful language learning. To get the most from the questions, I frequently look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices. Identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses. These Spanish animals display posters / flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarise themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters / flashcards, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory and recall games too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from their first language, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts in both languages, which I’ve found to be really useful for both current and later learning. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel : a turtle / tortoise : a wolf Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait flashcards / posters with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 flashcards / posters in all. These 60 task cards are perfect for developing Spanish language skills in general, as well as for practicing and revising how to tell time in Spanish. There are 60 cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, full answer key and a recording sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. The questions in this set are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, various analog clock times in Spanish, and also to working and learning with task cards. The second question is Verdadero o falso? and students write either verdadero or falso- where the answer is falso remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and time creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. It’s also a really popular activity too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: Set of 60 question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way outside your own classroom. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read Terms of Use carefully. There are five search grids with corresponding answer keys. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. For additional consolidation, they also rewrite each word in the word column. There are also five question and answer key grid templates for learners to create their own searches for each other — this is a really popular activity, and I’ve found that my learners often like to create grids for family at home too. The templates enable learners to apply their language practically and creatively, which is really important at this stage of language development. We also discuss Christmas traditions and practices in our home and other countries, and this gives an additional opportunity to add words and phrases they can use in their own word searches. There is an answer key for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it, For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with an additional opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! The word searches are in landscape format, with a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet, which allows for a decent font size in the grid - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners - and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. Have a look at this English Numbers 0-10 word search freebie - it’s the same format as these word searches, and you can see if they will suit your learners: NUMBERS 0-10 IN ENGLISH : WORD SEARCH FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/esl-english-numbers-0-10-word-search-freebie-12296067 Have a browse in my store for more English resources, including English dollar deals, special offer bundles, and freebies.
