This is a lesson plan and supporting resources to accompany the counting legs maths picture book ‘One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab’ by April Pulley Sayre and Jeff Sayre. The lesson and tasks are differentiated so that they can be used for all ages from Years 1-6.
The KS1 lesson looks at multiplication, repeated addition and the commutative law.
The LKS2 lesson looks at problems involving multiplication and addition.
The UKS2 lesson looks at problems involving multiplication and addition, plus the an introduction to expressing these number sentences using algebraic formulae.
