Interactive Markbook for KS3 Maths

(3)
An interactive markbook with sheets to track behaviour, attendance and mark for year 7 (although the resource could be easily adapted to suit other year groups). The mark sheet allows for 3 assessments to be averaged using a weighted mean then levelled via percentage to a National Curriculum level. The markbook also contains a timer and a hyperlinked FrontPage to resources. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to have the ‘Analysis toolpak’ and ‘VBA analysis toolpak’ installed in order to run these sheets correctly.

The presentation is designed to be used primarily with upper key stage 2 children but may be adapted as appropriate. It is intended that the package be used over a series of lessons, with a number of mathematical problems having to be solved at strategic points. All of the activities have a whole class teacher led input with some lessons then leading on to additional activities for the children.

3D shapes - An Interactive Investigation.KS2, KS3.

This unit is made up of three mini interactive activities focusing on the properties of 3D shapes. The first activity is based on Euler’s theory. The pupils need to find a rule that links the faces, edges and vertices together. The interactive activity allows them to manipulate the shapes on screen to count the faces, edges and vertices. The second activity has them using their knowledge of the properties of 3D shapes to form a polyhedral chain. The third activity allows the pupils to investigate which edges will meet when a net folds to form a 3D shape. There is also a starter and plenary.

Ordinal numbers

This KS1 Maths lesson helps pupils to understand the concept of ordinal numbers. A series of activities reinforces the idea of first, second, third and so on. In the main activity, pupils have the choice of two races and place the competitors in a suitable order. Further activities teach higher ordinal numbers (from 11th to 20th). The lesson fulfils these National Curriculum requirements (KS1, Ma2, Number): * approach problems involving number, and data presented in a variety of forms * count reliably up to 20 objects at first
