This resource pack is designed to encourage pupils to find interesting alternatives to the verb said. Hopefully this will encourage them to use a variety of interesting verbs, bringing their creative writing to life. The lesson contains: an introductory drag-and-drop activity where pupils consider better alternatives, a main game activity where pupils consider a more exciting alternative to a short piece of dialogue and a short poem/song that might encourage pupils to remember possible said alternatives.

The resource is designed to be used as a part of a structured programme of teaching and learning, assisting students in applying knowledge to a range of travel and tourism organisations operating in different sectors of the industry. This board game is designed to help apprentices develop their problem solving skills. Each ‘Problem card’ contains a description of a problem that an apprentice has had to deal with. This application allows pupils to practice basic number operations through a series of easy to use mental maths operations. There are exercises on three levels; beginner, intermediate and expert, covering the four basic number operations together with exercises on multiplication and division by powers of 10. Each test asks ten questions on the selected topic and the pupil is provided with instant feedback as each answer is submitted. The pupil’s mark is recorded in the database to allow progress to be monitored. A traffic light form allows easy monitoring of pupil’s progress.
