This thoughts and crosses activity can be used in a variety of ways to support student learning.
Questions are created in accordance to Bloom’s Taxonomy (apply, create, evaluate etc) and students can use this task in several ways.
Pair work - Students can work in pairs to play noughts and crosses (X’s and O’s). The first student to get 3 in a row correct is the winner. Students can check each others answers. This can be made more challenging by only allowing students to go diagonally or vertically as questions increase in difficulty.
Solo work - Students can choose 3 questions which can be differentiated based on ability. Horizontally on the top row are the easiest questions.
