Letters From Yorkshire
This free to download two-lesson mini-unit covers Maura Dooley’s ‘Letters From Yorkshire’ in detail. Designed for GCSE pupils studying AQA’s Love and Relationships poetry, this resource explores the poem in depth and explains how to compare it to other poems from the anthology. The resource is made up of a 45-slide editable PowerPoint presentation and 4 accompanying worksheets.

AQA GCSE Anthology Poetry Love and Relationships Pack
This GCSE lesson encourages learners to explore Dickens’ presentation of Fred’s Christmas in Stave Three of A Christmas Carol.
Learners will read from, ‘“Ha, ha!” laughed Scrooge’s nephew. “Ha, ha, ha!”’ down to, ‘…and he and the Spirit were again upon their travels.’ The ‘Do Now Activity’ is a revision task that encourages retrieval of some of the main ideas in Stave Two.
Then, after reading the passage indicated above, learners will complete a worksheet that encourages them to think about how Fred responds to criticism of Scrooge and what Fred’s function is as a character. The lesson culminates in a short review which asks learners to identify five things that they have learnt about Fred during the lesson.

Romeo and Juliet - Tybalt and Mercutio (PowerPoint and worksheets)
This Romeo and Juliet teaching resource is designed to help students develop their knowledge and understanding of the characters Tybalt and Mercutio. The lesson requires pupils to analyse both characters closely, pulling out quotations (dialogue and stage directions). They need to explain each quotation in detail and compare and contrast Tybalt and Mercutio.

It begins with a differentiated information retrieval task which asks learners to correct a number of inaccurate statements in relation to Staves One to Four. Learners will then read from, ‘“Spectre,” said Scrooge…’ down to ‘a worthy place!’ After reading the passage, learners will undertake a series of questions that encourage them to consider the differences between the places in which Scrooge and Tiny Tim are buried.
