Free Turkey Pie Maths Games – Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, Illustrations

(0)
This free set of maths cards includes fractions, decimals, percentages, words and turkey pie pictures for KS2. Ideal for Thanksgiving & Christmas to play games such as Memory, Snap, Pairs, Families & Go Fish. Students take turns finding equivalent values and thinking mathematically, making connections and becoming more confident with understanding these mathematical concepts. Kids love playing games so if you can mix learning with playing you know you will be onto a winner! Card activities might seem old-fashioned in our screen-loving age, but these games will help your students become fluent and confident with mathematical thinking without realizing how much they are learning and exercising their maths-thinking brains! Easy setup makes this perfect for independent activities, centres and supply days. Encourage them to stop the game occasionally and discuss how they know that 20% = 0.2 = one-fifth = 1/5 etc. Explaining this clarifies their thinking and helps them understand converting fractions, decimals and percentages. Players will be engaged as they will check whether the other players are correct. A fast game of Snap encourages speed in calculating as the person who calls Snap correctly first wins the pile of cards. Differentiation - make this more challenging by mixing up more than 2 versions e.g. using fractions in numbers and words, illustrations, decimals and/or percentages and finding all the families with equivalent values. You will get: 6 values as illustrations (turkey pie) illustrations (turkey with pie) fractions as numbers e.g. 1/4 fractions as words e.g. one quarter decimals percentages pattern for the backs of cards Great for you: Prep is easy and quick - print, cut up into cards (laminate with the pattern on the back for repeated use) and you are ready for a fun and engaging class Great for your maths and/or Thanksgiving and Christmas centre Use this to calculate mathematically and understand fractions by converting the pie illustrations into decimals, percentages and fractions in a fun way Ideal as an independent activity as part of a lesson Great for fractions, percentages and decimals homework Use resources for early finishers or extra practice Great for early morning work Great for your students: Games are ideal for 2 - 4 players Use a stopwatch for individuals to pair up 2 or more sets of cards challenge - who can beat this time/ who is the fastest in the group or class? Games are easy to learn how to play Games have a competitive element so students will be engaged Players will check each other’s mathematical skills and therefore be learning together. Encourage students to discuss their thinking. If you like this resource please leave a review, Thankyou Please check out TES Shop (UK) Copyright © OwletLearning

Thanksgiving ADD & SUBTRACT to 10, 20, 100 - 9 Mental Maths Games

(0)
Looking for Thanksgiving addition & subtraction maths games for KS1 & KS2 to practice adding and subtracting numbers to 10, 20, and 100? Encourage mental maths with the differentiated games & add or subtract numbers to consolidate number fluency this November using their key maths skills. Students will be eager to play and work out the answers using these fun and easy-prep activities. Check whether other players are giving the correct answers so everyone is involved every time someone moves the counter. Optional - players can only move if they say the answer correctly. Calculating and adding numbers mentally can be challenging, but the more students do this, the better they will get. Finding ways to make this fun, e.g. by playing games and ‘drip feeding’ this into daily maths activities, is a great way of getting students to become quicker and more accurate with these important skills. Make this easier for students who need support by providing number lines, manipulatives, or other maths resources you have for counting, e.g. Numicon, Dienes, etc. for working out and checking answers. This gives a great connection between concrete maths, i.e. handling objects, and the more abstract maths of using numerals and written calculations. These are great maths activities for adding up in our heads too, ideal to practice mental maths in independent activities. Setting up is quick and instructions are easy to follow and come with the games. Use them in adult-led activities where you can assess their speed and accuracy of adding as they play - evaluate how quick they are at calculating and discuss maths strategies. Discussions like these will help your students become more fluent in their numeracy skills. Differentiation is easy - use the easier addition games for students who need simpler additions to solve and support this with manipulatives or paper & pencil to work out the sums, or challenge them to add or subtract numbers up to 100 using only mental maths strategies. You will get 9 games with the following: Game 1 – add to 10 Game 2 – add to 20 Game 3 – add to 100 Game 4 – subtract from 10 Game 5 – subtract from 20 Game 6 – subtract from 100 Game 7 – subtract & add to 10 Game 8 – subtract & add to 20 Game 9 – subtract & add to 100 dice and spinners. counters patterns for backs instructions Students love learning in fun ways and these games will help to practice their maths skills so that addition becomes easier and quicker. They will make connections through a shared fun learning experience and increase their maths skills in the process – a win-win situation. If your students enjoy the games, please leave a review. Winter & Christmas Fun Games for Operations Add Subtract Multiply Divide

(0)
Looking for fun Christmas and Winter Maths operations games? Your students will love these low-prep activities for EYSF. They will practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers and increase their speed, confidence and accuracy in working out or recalling number operations. These Roll, Add, Calculate and Find activities will help to consolidate number fact fluency, which is an essential mathematical skill. These games are a great way of working on quick mental recall of times tables facts as students have to find a specific answer rather than go through the times tables by rote. The games are for students to play in pairs. Use them as part of an addition/ subtraction/ multiplication or division lesson to practice these skills or a stand-alone activity for students who need extra practice with this and prefer to play games rather than do lots of maths sheets. Checking that their friends have got the correct answer means that they have instant feedback if they have the answer right and if they disagree, they can work it out together. This will encourage discussion about maths operations. They can use the 2-12 times tables square provided to check instantly or rely on remembering their times tables. Playing games such as these will give a competitive element for students to be super engaged and try harder. We may know these number facts and patterns instinctively but students will gain a lot by having these mathematical concepts highlighted. These are great conversations to have over a fun game so that maths thinking becomes fluid and students have several number patterns and strategies to fall back on that will help them with mental maths and when they are multiplying numbers in the future. Here is what you will get: 5 addition and subtraction games to 10, 20 and 100 - there are 2 challenges for 20 and 100 to bridge 10 more often 5 multiplication and division games for 2 to 12 times tables a colour die/ dice a colour spinner Cute winter clipart for games ideal for Christmas and winter Instructions for the games *Teaching ideas for lessons Patterns for the different times tables to look out for Suggestions for investigations to help see number patterns and remember times tables better - this leads to better number fluency Patterns for the backs of the games 2 - 12 times tables squares to check answers quickly for the multiplication and division games Counters to print out, cut up and use in different colours to put onto the spaces they have won Prep is easy – Print, cut up and play.
