Winter & Christmas Fun Games for Operations Add Subtract Multiply Divide

(0)
Looking for fun Christmas and Winter Maths operations games? Your students will love these low-prep activities for EYSF. They will practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers and increase their speed, confidence and accuracy in working out or recalling number operations. These Roll, Add, Calculate and Find activities will help to consolidate number fact fluency, which is an essential mathematical skill. These games are a great way of working on quick mental recall of times tables facts as students have to find a specific answer rather than go through the times tables by rote. The games are for students to play in pairs. Use them as part of an addition/ subtraction/ multiplication or division lesson to practice these skills or a stand-alone activity for students who need extra practice with this and prefer to play games rather than do lots of maths sheets. Checking that their friends have got the correct answer means that they have instant feedback if they have the answer right and if they disagree, they can work it out together. This will encourage discussion about maths operations. They can use the 2-12 times tables square provided to check instantly or rely on remembering their times tables. Playing games such as these will give a competitive element for students to be super engaged and try harder. We may know these number facts and patterns instinctively but students will gain a lot by having these mathematical concepts highlighted. These are great conversations to have over a fun game so that maths thinking becomes fluid and students have several number patterns and strategies to fall back on that will help them with mental maths and when they are multiplying numbers in the future. Here is what you will get: 5 addition and subtraction games to 10, 20 and 100 - there are 2 challenges for 20 and 100 to bridge 10 more often 5 multiplication and division games for 2 to 12 times tables a colour die/ dice a colour spinner Cute winter clipart for games ideal for Christmas and winter Instructions for the games *Teaching ideas for lessons Patterns for the different times tables to look out for Suggestions for investigations to help see number patterns and remember times tables better - this leads to better number fluency Patterns for the backs of the games 2 - 12 times tables squares to check answers quickly for the multiplication and division games Counters to print out, cut up and use in different colours to put onto the spaces they have won Prep is easy – Print, cut up and play. The dice will need to be folded and glued, if this takes too much time please use the spinners instead. If you like this resource, I would appreciate a review. Thank you. These Halloween times tables games will engage students in KS2. Are your students working on multiplication and you are looking for some fun ways to practice multiplying numbers to increase their speed, confidence and accuracy in working out or recalling times tables facts? Your students will love these Roll, Multiply and Find activities as they practice their multiplication fact fluency, which is an essential mathematical skill. The games will help to memorize and recall maths multiplication facts (for 6, 7, 9, 11 & 12 times tables) more easily and quickly. Multiplying will be something they will find fun to do as they find the answers and claim Halloween doughnuts. The games are for students to play in pairs. Use them as part of a multiplication lesson to practice these skills or a stand-alone activity for students who need extra practice with times tables and prefer to play games rather than do lots of maths sheets. Checking that their friends have got the correct answer means that they have instant feedback if they have the answer right and if they disagree they can work it out together. Playing games such as these will give a competitive element for students to be super engaged and try harder. Provide manipulatives such as Numicon, counters or Dienes or a number line to support learning, or encourage students to use their mental maths strategies to work out and find the answers. We may know all these instinctively but students will gain a lot by having these mathematical concepts highlighted. These are great conversations to have over a fun game so that maths thinking becomes fluid and students have several strategies to fall back on that will help them with mental maths and when they are multiplying numbers in the future. Here is what you will get: 5 Multiplication Games in color and black and white for 6, 7, 9, 11, 12 times tables Dice 1 - 6 in color and black & white Spinners 1 - 6 in color and black & white 2 - 12 spinner - this is for multiplication only so use this if you want to concentrate on times tables rather than add and multiply Cute Halloween clipart for games, dice and spinners Instructions for the games Teaching ideas for lessons Patterns for the backs of the games Counters to print out and use in different colours Resources are in colour and black and white for more printing options The games for different times tables are great for differentiation! These resources for Halloween subtraction games for KS1 can also be used for EYFS students to minus numbers from 5, 10, 12 and 20. Recalling or calculating taking away numbers mentally can be challenging but the more students do this, the better they will get. Finding ways to make this fun e.g. by playing games and ‘drip feeding’ this into daily maths activities is a great way of getting students to become quicker and more accurate with these important skills. To make this easier for those students who need manipulatives, provide counters or other maths resources you have for counting e.g. Numicon, 10 frames, number lines, counters etc. for working out and checking answers. This gives a great connection between concrete maths i.e. handling objects and the more abstract maths of using numerals and written calculations. These are great games for subtracting in our heads too - so ideal to practice mental maths. The maths games can also be used as independent activities if you are teaching subtraction as part of a lesson, or as an activity for those students who need more practice with subtracting numbers. With Games 1 & 2, they can work out the answers using their fingers, which will lead them to become more confident and quicker resulting in better recall for future maths subtraction problem-solving. Differentiation is easy - use the easier games for students who need simpler problems to solve and support this with manipulatives or challenge them to subtract from 20. Here is what you will get: 1 game for subtracting from 5 1 game for subtracting from 10 1 game for subtracting from 12 1 game for subtracting from 20 dice with Halloween clipart spinners with Halloween art Coloured counters to use instead of colouring in Patterns to add to the backs of the games to make them look more professional Students love learning in fun ways and these games will help to practice their maths skills so that addition becomes easier and quicker. Your Early years students will love to add 2 numbers in pairs & small groups and use their mathematics skills to practice addition. This resource is ideal for celebrating the fall colours, but it can be used throughout the year. Most young children love games, and these resources lend themselves well to practicing key maths skills, recognizing numerals and adding 2 numbers 1, 2 and 3 to make the sum 2 to 6. Differentiation is easy. Easy: provide manipulatives for extra support for students who are at the stage where they need to count objects and use the leaves board game and dice or spinners as it is easier to count 3 leaves and 2 leaves together than use numerals. Middle: Use the leaves board game. Harder: use the game board with numerals which is a more abstract concept as students have to visualize what 3 looks like as a quantity. Challenge: use the board with the tally pictures and add the tally on 2 spinners or dice Ask questions such as: How many acorns can you ‘see’ without counting - subitizing? Can you make a sum using the symbols and show me 3 + 2 = ? using your whiteboard – addition skills? Is 3+2 the same as 2+3? The resources are great for lessons, child-initiated play activities, tuff trays, maths centres, role-play areas, extra maths practice, fun homework, homeschooling, substitute teachers, fall or autumn topics - a versatile resource that you can use often. You will get cards with: 3 board games in 2 versions: • * with FALL in the title • * with AUTUMN in the title The resources are in fall or autumn colours. Great for your students: Gives students opportunities to count carefully to 3 and subitize Count together and discuss the final number being the total number Add 2 quantities or numbers together and find the answer Have fun with maths Home Education: Ideal to use it to practice counting to 3 and adding Please check out TES Shop (UK) Copyright © OwletLearning
