Winter & Christmas Fun Games for Operations Add Subtract Multiply Divide

(0)
Looking for fun Christmas and Winter Maths operations games? Your students will love these low-prep activities for EYSF. They will practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers and increase their speed, confidence and accuracy in working out or recalling number operations. These Roll, Add, Calculate and Find activities will help to consolidate number fact fluency, which is an essential mathematical skill. These games are a great way of working on quick mental recall of times tables facts as students have to find a specific answer rather than go through the times tables by rote. The games are for students to play in pairs. Use them as part of an addition/ subtraction/ multiplication or division lesson to practice these skills or a stand-alone activity for students who need extra practice with this and prefer to play games rather than do lots of maths sheets. Checking that their friends have got the correct answer means that they have instant feedback if they have the answer right and if they disagree, they can work it out together. This will encourage discussion about maths operations. They can use the 2-12 times tables square provided to check instantly or rely on remembering their times tables. Playing games such as these will give a competitive element for students to be super engaged and try harder. We may know these number facts and patterns instinctively but students will gain a lot by having these mathematical concepts highlighted. These are great conversations to have over a fun game so that maths thinking becomes fluid and students have several number patterns and strategies to fall back on that will help them with mental maths and when they are multiplying numbers in the future. Here is what you will get: 5 addition and subtraction games to 10, 20 and 100 - there are 2 challenges for 20 and 100 to bridge 10 more often 5 multiplication and division games for 2 to 12 times tables a colour die/ dice a colour spinner Cute winter clipart for games ideal for Christmas and winter Instructions for the games *Teaching ideas for lessons Patterns for the different times tables to look out for Suggestions for investigations to help see number patterns and remember times tables better - this leads to better number fluency Patterns for the backs of the games 2 - 12 times tables squares to check answers quickly for the multiplication and division games Counters to print out, cut up and use in different colours to put onto the spaces they have won Prep is easy – Print, cut up and play. German Speaking and Listening Conversation Prompts, Cards and Mats

Are you looking for some ways to encourage speaking and listening in German? These easy-prep conversation prompts and mats will do just that and are ideal as a starter activity to get students thinking and speaking straight away in German. They are great for working in pairs and differentiated so you will be able to use them for the whole class. Speaking and listening are skills that are so important and fun, however many students shy away from this because they don’t want to get this wrong. I would start a lesson with my puppet and model a conversation in German, adding a few words. Then my puppet would ask a few students a question so that they get involved. I would differentiate the questions to the student so some might answer simple questions with their name or ‘Ja’ and I would expect others to answer in more complex sentences. Then all students will use their conversation mats and ask and answer questions with their talking partner. This is a fun and quick way to start the lesson in the target language and engage students in German conversations. These activities help with confidence and fluency. When students are more confident and fluent, they can use the more challenging prompts and mats. Benefits Perfect for use as a lesson starter Ideal to use as an oral task Encourages speaking and listening skills Differentiated to target different skill levels Helps students practice their conversation skills A resource that you will use often **You will get: ** 3 mats in different designs 50+ cards in German (including some English prompts that encourage using German vocabulary without the support of hearing the language first) Blank mats to add their new vocabulary/ questions over the term and/ or year Blank prompt cards for you or students to write questions Instructions/Tips for Implementation Students can work in pairs using the conversation cards and mats at the beginning of the lesson to encourage speaking and listening skills. They can also use the blank templates to add new vocabulary as they learn throughout the year therefore making their learning personal to them.
