I am an experienced English teacher of both Literature and Language, and also Classical Studies at High School level. You will find text-based resources for novels, poetry, plays and film study in my shop for Years 7 - 13. The resources are generic to the text so are suitable for any curriculum. I am also a passionate believer in effective literacy learning hence the emphasis on phonics resources in my shop.

A revision activity for Homer’s Odyssey. This can be used for classroom display, group or individual activity. Students have to arrange the map to reflect Odysseus’ journey. Number the places according to when they were visited (some may have two numbers) A Dear Diary template has been included for the written task where Odysseus describes the place, what happens, who was involved and how did he feel about the experience. This activity works well as a group task where each group is given 2 - 3 places to describe. Great for revision. PDF file.

Independent student activity on HOmer’s The Odyssey. Students need to be familiar with the story and Greek myths in general. It is designed as a revision and extension activity. Students also need to be familiar with representing their ideas through metaphors / symbolism. The static image / poster is one way of students showcasing their knowledge of the myths symbolically. This can obviously be adapted to other means of presentation. Originally designed for New Zealand Curriculum NCEA Level 2 Classical Studies.

22 stylish flashcards containing terms such as architrave, triglyph, volute, metope, pronaos, opisthodomos etc., and their definitions relating to Ancient Greek temple construction. The term can be pre-cut from the definition so this can be used as a mix and match activity. 22 cards are also included containing the term only. The space above can be used by students to draw a diagram of that part of the temple. A neat revision activity once students are familiar with the temple construction.
