I am an experienced English teacher of both Literature and Language, and also Classical Studies at High School level. You will find text-based resources for novels, poetry, plays and film study in my shop for Years 7 - 13. The resources are generic to the text so are suitable for any curriculum. I am also a passionate believer in effective literacy learning hence the emphasis on phonics resources in my shop.

4 colourful worksheets where students have to match the alliterative sound. As many students have discovered, it’s not as easy as it seems : ) This is an excellent resource for consolidating phonic or alliterative knowledge. It’s also an ideal lesson starter / quick plenary activity when teaching sound devices as part of a poetry unit. Bonus: 2 worksheets to revise antonyms. A quick, fun activity where students match up the picture that means the opposite word.

Dinosaur themed visual sentence building cards. Students will need to include an auxillary verb, possessive noun and a preposition (or more depending on the length of the sentence.) This is a neat confidence boosting activity for early literacy. (Boys who sometimes struggle with reading fluency and polysyllabic words seem to engage with dinosaurs really well!) 8 who cards 8 what cards 8 where cards. Students are free to mix and match but must use at least one card from each colour group to make the sentence.

28 pages (4 to a page) of basic sight words. 19 pages (4 to a page) of slightly higher level sight words. These can be copied to a size of your choice. Students who struggle with letter formation appreciate the enlarged size. The larger letters also allow for wooden / plastic letters to be placed on them depending on the size of the copy. Also a good sized card for class display purposes.
