Everything you need to deliver the unit “Human influences on ecosystems” for GCSE Biology in power point slides with easy navigation. It follows Cambridge syllabus (0610/0970) for 2023-2025 and Cambridge IGCSE endorsed book by Jones and Jones, but it is easily adaptable to others. A Checklist slide is included for students to use for their revision and learning objectives are given as a starter for the subtopics covered. These are the slides I currently use to teach AS level Biology ENZYMES (more than 60 slides). Just updated for the 2025-27 syllabus. It follows Cambridge syllabus (9700) but it is easily adaptable to others. The topic is divided in 8 parts: Intro: starter activity to refresh GCSE knowledge What are enzymes? Modes of action: lock and key, induced fit Investigating an enzyme-catalysed reaction Factors affecting enzymes. Enzyme affinity; Vmax and Km Inhibitors: competitive and non-competitive. Everything you need to deliver seven plant practical activities. Easily adaptable and suitable for Year 7, 8 and 9. Some would also be suitable in year 10. The slides for each activity include the apparatus needed, method, results and conclusion. They can also be performed as demonstrations and most of them can be used in distance learning. What happens to plants in the absence of light? – This practical can be done in the lab or sent to do it at home in a distance learning approach as little material is needed. It can also be shown as a demonstration. Leaves under the microscope Roots for food: web exploring activity that can be easily performed in distance learning. Seeds feeling gravity: lab activity although it is simple enough to be performed in distance learning. Transport of water in celery: 2 lab activities included. It could be performed at home with food colouring. Investigating different colours of light in photosynthesis – theoretically. Can be done in distance learning. All the information given for student to work out on their own the apparatus, risks, results and conclusion. Check the slides’ notes for some extra info about the activity. Everything you need to deliver a unit about the cardiovascular system in KS3. Easily adaptable and suitable for KS4. Each unit part includes a slide with the main learning objectives. The topic is divided in 6 parts: The human circulatory system: includes a starter slide + slide for a full lesson + plenary slide. The heart: structure and function. It includes a starter slide + slide for a full lesson + plenary slide and a related video. Blood components: lesson slides + exit ticket plenary. Blood vessels: lesson slides + plenary activities. End of unit questions with 4 activities. Revision: 35 minutes of revision activities + slides to check the proper answers. It can be used as a revision or assessment. Coincides with Cambridge Checkpoint textbook/scheme of work, but can be used alongside others. There are 5 more files: • Word document for the exit ticket based on an Instagram post • Power point with the unit targets for students to revise + printable version in pdf • Power point with some of the diagrams used in the slides. • Excel spreadsheet with the material needed for a heart dissection practical. I use this resource to teach the basics for paper 5 for 9700 Biology A Level. I teach this over 3 full hour lessons or a bit more. It includes: Lesson 1 (slides 1-10): students learn how to plan an investigation. Lesson 2 (slides 11-24): students learn about independent, dependent and controlled variables, describing the steps in an investigation, assessing risks and start the basic math skills for evaluating data by using statistics to include mean, range, interval… Lesson 3 (slides 25-end): more statistics to include standard deviation, standard error and confidence intervals, error bars, t-test and tips to best evaluate their evidence and state a relevant conclusion. The slides include some activities so that students can practice these skills. I hope you find it useful.
