L’alphabet en français Learn the pronuncation of the alphabet in French A sheet to hand our and/project. The sheet explains how to pronounce the alphabet in French. It is useful as an introduction to the sounds as it has them underneath the letter. If you print this as a worksheet you can then exploit it with teacher-led speaking/listening tasks. The learners could learn to spell out their own names or even celebrities’ names.

Spanish simple writing assessment and preparation

(0)
Spanish Writing Assessment Preparation KS3 Year 7 This resource comprises simple preparation with a framework for the first half term writing assessment over three pages. How could I use this? Use the first draft by translating the text above each line. Next use the box to write their own version, changing the underlined words. Watch out for pitfalls e.g. masc/fem adj. endings etc. Encourage superlearners to add more detail and all pupils should use the assessment criteria at the bottom to understand what they should be doing. Use the second sheet once you’ve marked the first to improve/correct. Take this one home to learn. The third sheet is the actual assessment.

A booklet aimed at Edexcel GCSE French speaking. Topic: cinema. After initial teacher input, use this booklet to build confidence in understanding current grades and how to improve speaking. Pupils will be working towards creating a conversation around arranging to go to the cinema. Contains Edexcel mark scheme (most of it!) highlighted plus activities including possible "surprise" questions and a mock stimulus. Credits: Have included "grade changers" from Rachel Hawkes which I found online.

Year 7 First French Lesson

Year 7 French KS3 French This 4 page resource can be helpful during the first week of the first term to settle and get to know your groups, especially where they are from different feeder primaries and you’re not sure what level of MFL they are coming in at. It could also be useful for when groupings/sets are still changing in the second or third week of the first term…yes this does happen… For lower ability pupils offer a choice of which page to start first as the first is a bit wordy! Space to add the name of your school. For differentiation ideas, try putting French words jumbled up on the board (bonjour/au revoir etc.) or famous French people. Ask higher ability children to write a mini paragraph about themselves using personal information and so on. Watching a French or Spanish film

Watching a French or Spanish film

(1)
A generic worksheet with boxes to fill in when pupils are watching a film. It’s generic so should go with any film! There are French and Spanish versions. Haven’t updated my cover image yet, apologies. Find: colours/words you know/words you heard but would like to understand/cognates/opinions etc. and a handy section to fill in how far into the film you’ve got so you can pick up next lesson.
