Lesson Summary: This lesson covers the events after the Battle of Hastings and importantly, allows the students to explain why Aethling and his earls submitted to William so soon after the battle.

This lesson completes the second unit of Anglo-Saxon and Norman England and asks the students to evaluate the main reasons why William was able to maintain his power.

This lesson looks encourages the students to explain the ideas they have been taught about WHY there was a lack of progress in the ideas about how disease was caused in the Medieval period 1250-1500. Students are provided with an outline of the reasons and helpful information about how to structure a 12 mark answer based on this question.
The lesson includes a recap from previous learning, a focussed starter task, background information about the wider historical context, a set of learning tasks which are differentiated for higher and lower ability, extention task/s, a focus on the exam with a 12 mark question, a review (plenary) and finally a fact sheet which can be used as a replacement for any books.

This lesson examines how the advancement in technology has helped improve the ability of doctors to diagnose and treat patients. It includes all the information needed to teach the lesson without the need for a text book. Students will create their own timeline of key pieces of technology and then explain the impact this technology has had. There is a model 16 mark answer included.

This lesson covers the main wounds and injuries caused by the weapons of war such as artillery, rifles, machine guns, poison gas. It then outlines the methods and treatment used to tackle these injuries. Gas Gangrene is also mentioned.

This lesson helps students understand a variety of reasons why there was an increase in exploration from European countries during the reign of the Tudors. This can be taught as part of a Tudor society unit or a stand alone lesson. You will receive:
