Year 3/4 Great at Grammar - Spring Term Pack - newly updated to meet the demands of the New National Curriculum.
We are pleased to announce that this resource has been updated to meet the demands of the new National Curriculum with the objective listed at the top of each activity.
With the introduction of the new National Curriculum it is vitally important that grammar is taught throughout the school and is an integral part of the curriculum.
This pack comes with 12 weeks of activities with five activities per week. These include activities which are linked to all aspects of the new grammar National Curriculum. At the top of each slide the learning objective from the National Curriculum is shown. There are also activities from the Year 1/2 National Curriculum which will serve as useful revision to the children.
Each activity is only designed to take 5 minutes which means these activites are perfect to complete first thing in the morning or straight after lunch. Built up over the term the children will become grammar experts!
These activities are aimed at children in years 3/4 and can be completed on paper or in books.

This Teach, Practise, Extend PowerPoint resource focuses on semi-colons. In total there are three slides:
Slide 1 - Definition of the two different ways that semi-colons are used with examples.
Slide 2 - Four sentences where the children add information in a list which includes semi-colons. Then, five sentences where the children complete the sentence where the semi-colon replaces a connective.
Slide 3 - Ten sentences where the children write the first part of the sentence before the semi-colon.

Our new 'Fun with Phonics' resource is designed to develop pupils confidence when reading phonetically decodable words. It is also to support preparations for the Year 1 phonics screening check.
The pack contains five different activities each week where the pupils are encouraged to decode words, which contain graphemes up to and include phase 5, and use these in a range of situations.
The final activity encourages pupils to read real and pseudo words. The pseudo words are identified using a image of an alien to help prepare pupils for the format of the screening check.

Included in this set are 32 loop cards which help children understand contractions. There are 4 loop cards on each A4 sheet, making them easy to keep and store.

This pack includes 34 fun and creative ways to learn weekly spellings. These can be used as a homework task or in the classroom where the children can take turns picking a card out of a bag. Activities include:
Skip - once for each letter, then call out the word you have spelled.
Throw a ball up in the air saying each letter as you catch it.

This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text:
Enchantment in the Garden by Shirley Hughes (years 3)
In total there are 5 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the chapters in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan.
Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation.
