Did you know that 75% of A Level Biology questions now contain some Maths content from 30 different numerical techniques? This 350+ question multi-choice quiz assembles all the Biology numeric calculations all in one place, and will help with revision and prepare you for the new specification A Level exam.
Some good A Level Biology students lose marks because they are worried by the maths - but with practice and confidence it can be mastered. This interactive quiz identifies your right answers and also points to gaps in a scored checkout test. I also run an on-line course to support this.
Maths for A Level Biology covers obvious requirements like mean, interpreting graphs, rounding, percentage change and standard form; but also extends for example to:
genetic probabilities, reaction rates, diversity index, NPP and statistical tests like Chi², Spearman, P – value, Hardy Weinberg , Also questions on variables and results in the 12 core practical experiments. In fact anything that involves a number!
When you enter an answer by clicking, entering a,b,c or a number you get an immediate correct/try again colour coded answer. There is a reset button to start again. You can add questions with just a modicum of Excel skills.
In the very latest V 6.0 version more questions have been added reflecting the most up to date papers’ question style and also Coronavirus and COVID-19.
And for 2022 an indication of priority A Level practicals.
Many good GCSE science students lose marks because they are worried by the maths but this 400 question multichoice quiz - see video - covering 30 theory and core practical topics across Chemistry, Physics and Biology - will help and features precisely the maths competencies I identified from extensive research into past papers.
Maths for Science covers obvious requirements like mean, interpreting graphs, rounding, percentage change and probability; but also extends for example to use of formula triangles and rearranging formulae, use of control, dependent and independent variables in experiments, chromosome counts, atomic mass and number, units of measure, isotope decay, carbon dioxide concentration and bond energy calculations. In fact anything that involves a number!

Imagine several of your GCSE 9-1 Science questions are simply asking you about what you are interested in already, in everyday life. For many pupils the “environment” is just that subject. This pack contains a powerpoint slideshow pack covering the basics of environment, global warming, climate change, greenhouse gases, pollution, alternative energies and energy efficiencies. All through the lens of the GCSE science syllabus, with further detail provided for the individual sciences of Chemistry (e.g. the equations of combustion and pollution); Physics (e.g. the pros and cons of alternative energy sources like wind and solar); and Biology (the effect of pollution and deforestation on habitats.
Also there is an interactive Excel quiz of 100 Multichoice questions, again on the GCSE Science Environment topics, giving you the chance of immediate yes/no feed back, or complete a mock test and then automatically generate a % score and revision list of topics you struggled on.
Most GCSE questions on this topic stick fairly close to syllabus so if you learn it you are already well on the way to a pass! I also have a blog with much more detail on what you need to learn.
The Environment coaching slides and excel quiz are free of charge for two reasons, first because we all benefit from more knowledge of the environment, and secondly as an introduction to a much wider set of slide packs and quizzes I have created for Maths, Science and Business Studies, which are all much larger so a small fee is charged.
