Two resources to introduce work experience to pupils. The second resources is a reading activity. There are sentences in Spanish which give opinions about work experience and pupils must decide if they are positive or negative. There is also a gap-fill which pupils can use as model for their own answers.

Spanish A Level subjunctive verbs grammar battleships game starter

(0)
This is a battleships game for practising the subjunctive with an A Level group or G&T GCSE group. Pupils play battleships by marking 5 ships of different lengths (5 squares, 4 squares, 3 squares, 2 squares, 1 square) on their own grid. They must then use the subjunctive with the set grids to guess where their partner's ships are. Pupils can either just use the subjunctive trigger and conjugate a verb or they could create sentences which uses the verb, for example creating sentences on the environment or pollution. You can adopt this worksheet to include different infinitives and constructions, perhaps to revise key topics.

A standalone resource to boost GCSE writing skills. It is based on a longer writing question on the topic of media and technology with exercises for pupils to work through, including error collection, a ‘structures search’, verb conjugation and gap-fill. The model answer can then be used to model success in writing. Following this, there is a retranslation activity in which pupils can retranslate the model answer from English to Spanish, before writing their own. Answers included.

Spanish KS3 GCSE holidays preterite past tense las vacaciones preterite reading writing

(0)
A stand alone lesson to introduce the topic of holidays using some key past tense verbs. The resources (a PowerPoint and Worksheet) will guide pupils to be able to talk about their holidays in the past tense by the end of the lesson. The key verbs are introduced and pupils do activities to recognise and memorise these. These are then used in a reading so pupils can start to see how they work. Pupils are then introduced to the rules for -AR verb conjugation and have an opportunity to practise key verbs for the topic, with all subject pronouns. The plenary brings all of this together by asking pupils to write/ say a paragraph based on the visual information on a slide. They can then use this as a model for their own work. There is also a plenary reading comprehension task with a gap-fill activity and this can then be used by pupils to model their own answer on.

GCSE French describing a photo: key vocabulary and structures for photo description

(0)
A support sheet for pupils who are describing a photo in French. There are lots of useful phrases to help with describing the photo itself, as well as lots of complex language and A* constructions for pupils to include. The structures and language are in groups: phrases to introduce a photo, past tense expressions, weather phrases, A* constructions to include, useful connectives, opinion phrases etc. My own pupils have found this very useful and it provides an excellent scaffold for them producing high quality work.
