This is planned for a double lesson which is 100 minutes in my school, but can end up longer as it includes a 50 minute documentary into the phone hacking scandal. This isn’t essential for students understanding of the topic and could be replaced by something much shorter. Looks at the Leveson Inquiry, Partygate, Mps expenses, Sarah Payne Campaign. Lesson 8/9: The nature of criminality in the UK I have put together these two lessons as Lesson 8 requires IT. There is a small amount of input on recorded crime statistics and the issues with them, students then research the current picture of crime in the UK. They can do this by sharing the worksheet electronically and students populate it using the link. Equally they could hand write it. Lesson 9 is not essential, however, it is a good contrast to the Summer riots of 2024. This lesson focuses on a documentary about the UK riots of 2011, students then write a report on the reasons for it starting. I have them start this in lesson, and finish as homework. If this was all completed in lesson, there is over 3 hours of learning in this bundle. 5x 100 minute lessons aimed at KS4 [Year 10] to teach them about radicalisation, extremism, terrorism and counter terrorism. The bundle includes a progress tracker, an additional document worksheet that was uploaded to assignments in teams as a homework task/additional lesson for staff who had them in the final week of the half term- this uses the Stacey Dooley documentary on extremism in Luton. There are a lot of video clips in these lessons, and 1 lesson uses BBC documentary on Neo Nazis. I wouldn’t teach this unit to Year groups in KS3 (Y7-9) None of the lessons require printing (the first lesson provides a template as we had some key worker kids in, but they can draw an outline at home!) as the unit was taught on Teams during Lockdown 3. Some of the language used in the activities may need to be tweaked to suit a classroom, but this is minimal. Lesson can all be bought individually in my shop Please review if you download.

This is a KS4 PSHE/Citizenship/Life Skills unit aimed at Year 10/11. The unit of work aims to inform students about the world of money, so they can make informed choices about spending and where to invest their money. The lessons look at costs associated with moving out, food shopping, having the right bank account, the importance of a pension etc. Included is the learning journey and confidence tracker. As it is not an assessed subject in my school, students use a confidence tracker and the start and end of the unit to demonstrate their progress.
