New AQA Specification 9-1. Lesson looking at how internal and external factors plus ethnicity affect the educational achievement of students. There is a 12 mark exam question, with structure strips to support students response.

New AQA Specification 9-1. Lesson looking at how educational policy changes have impacted educational achievement. Students complete a timeline- first activity is to put the information above the timeline. Second activity is to consider if it reduced or increased inequalities looking at gender, ethnicity and social class.

Planned for the 9-1 New Specification This lesson looks at the embourgeoisement thesis. Looking at Goldthorpe’s (1969) The Affluent Worker study and Fiona Devine (1992) case study.

Planned for AQA 9-1 Specification This lesson looks at different explanations of poverty in the UK. It starts with a recap of key New Right ideas, followed by the cycle of deprivation and Charles Murray’s study into the Underclass. The lesson then looks at globalisation as a cause of poverty, finishing with a 12 mark question.

A lesson that follows on from an introduction to Functionalism. This lesson concentrates on Durkheim and introduces Parsons. This is a suitable lesson for an introduction to Sociology but also suitable for GCSE Revision.

This is a lesson follows on from lesson 5 which was an introduction to Marxism and covered Capitalism and the Bourgoise. This lesson focuses on the Proletariats, Communism and Marx desire for revolution. This is a lesson suitable for either an introduction in sociology or as a refresher/revision for students before their GCSE. Suitable for non-specialists or a cover lesson. Planned for 9-1 AQA specification. This lesson can take 2 hours (double lesson) if you watch the documentary. Students complete an information sheet on what the Welfare State introduced after the war. They then look at New Right, Centre-Left, Marxist and Feminist perspectives on welfare. There are some extension questions for those who complete this. There is then a documentary about the benefits cap. The idea is to offer this as a possible solution, but for students to think about the implications of this. This documentary is not essential for the course, but it is a nice way for students to think about alternatives to the welfare state, or to consider if the welfare state is a worthwhile investment with taxation.

Lesson 10 on AQA 9-1 Specification Crime & Deviance This lesson looks at why there is a difference between the social classes and their involvement in crime. There is a 45 minute documentary link attached to one of the slides, that is not essential but a good alternative.

There are several exam questions relating to each of the key texts to develop students confidence in using these texts.
