Suitable as an introductory lesson, or a revision lesson before the exams. A cheap lesson as there wasn’t a great deal of teacher input. Students complete their quiz, do keyword bingo and then answer a series of exam questions. I like students to take a question at a time, mark a peers answer and then I live write in the powerpoint as the class create the perfect answer-including literacy! I then print the slides after the lesson and they stick these into their books.

A lesson that introduces the key perspective of Marxism. This lesson is part 1 of 2 parts. The idea is for students to imagine themselves as workers, then have the standard deductions taken from their wage. The idea of this task is to get students to see society as Marx did (my students tend to struggle the most with Marxism because they aren’t workers or have a clue about the cost of living.) The lesson then moves on to introduce Marx and Capitalism and Bourgeoise. The next lesson will look at the Proletariat and Marx theory of the need for a revolution. Students will then assess the strengths and weaknesses of this theory. This is a lesson suitable for either an introduction in sociology or as a refresher/revision for students before their GCSE. Planned for AQA new spec (9-1) but suitable for most exam boards. This is a knowledge organiser that contains key thinkers, and a summary of the unit. It is a good revision tool, but students will obviously need to go into further detail on each of the key thinkers etc. Please leave a review if you download.

New Spec 9-1 The lesson concentrates on looking at Rapoport & Rapoport (1982) as Key Thinkers. There is a proforma and students evaluate the study. Also covered looking at why there is family diversity. Please leave a review.

New Spec 9-1. Included is the progress checkpoint that we complete every 6 lessons, this may suit your assessment schedule as a mini-mid unit assessment. Students complete this as a low-stake, open book assessment where they can see if their notes are of a good enough quality. The feedback lesson includes a whole-class feedback slide, and both 4 mark questions have a model answer. The students highlight and mark this answer, identifying how it is a good answer. They then attempt a new 4 mark question acting on their feedback.

2 lessons that cover the Functionalist approach to the nuclear family. Including Murdock and Parsons.

New Spec- 9-1 This lesson looks at an introduction to Functionalist viewpoint on the nuclear family by looking at the work of G.P Murdock. Students look at the four functions of the nuclear family. Next lesson will be Parsons. If you download please review.

New Spec 9-1 This lesson looks at an overview of the Marxist approach to the Families (assuming students have a basic understanding of Marxism from an introductory unit). The lesson also focuses on the Key Thinker Eli Zaretsky.

This is a mini research unit that will be taught ahead of the units (after the introduction unit). It should take approximately 11 lessons to go through the basic research methods. I am aware this is no longer necessary to be taught as an explicit unit, however we feel they need the basic knowledge to be able to answer the questions in the different units. The homework task refers to a knowledge organiser than can be bought in my store. However, the homework task can be completed without it. It’s just our departmental push on the use of them throughout the unit. Lesson 3- Looking at Primary, Secondary, Qual & Quan data. Considering how studies are peer reviewed and evaluated. Exam practice with model answer. Homework Task also prepared.

A computer based lesson. The worksheet can either be printed (preferable) or shared via a school sharing platform and students can edit it on microsoft word. Powerpoint to assist students doing their websearches.

Students observe a clib from CBB and then attempt to write a report to highlight the difficulty with observations. Read resource and complete worksheet and then create their own observation. A knowledge organiser prepared for the AQA New Spec, but can suit any . Whilst we know Studying Society no longer exists as a separate topic, we have opted to teach a mini research methods unit (soon to be uploaded) after the introduction.
