Revision checklist for AQA A-level Biology. Designed for use with the following revision method:
Step 1: make revision resources** for a topic e.g. flashcards, mindmaps.
Step 2: use these revision resources to actively revise the topic.
Step 3: complete topic-specific exam questions.
Step 4: mark questions and annotate revision notes with any missed information.
Step 5: repeat until you are achieving a mark that is comparable to your desired final grade.
Step 6: move onto the next topic!
** If you don’t have time to make your own revision resources, flashcards & revision questions & answers are available to purchase in my Tes shop! The flashcards and revision questions & answers contain very similar information, so there is no need to use both - pick whichever format you prefer.
Ideal for first lesson back after lockdown for a bit of revision, or for a ‘fun’ end of term activity. Would work for remote learning.
Includes a powerpoint for the quiz, a student answer sheet and a teacher MS with follow up questions to go with each picture. Virtually all pictures and questions are relevant to AQA, OCR and Edexcel.
Based on my +15 years as a science educator and extensive past paper analysis, these flashcards have been created to help students learn the key marking points for A-level Biology.
Concise, mapped to the specification and based on past mark schemes.
Print & assemble and then use to teach yourself the correct marking points.
Please note, these flashcards don’t cover the required practicals but required practical revision sheets are available separately, or together with the complete set of flashcards as part of the Ultimate AQA A-level Biology Revision Bundle.
The Ultimate AQA A-level Biology Revision Bundle includes:
Section 1-8 Flashcards
Practical skill flashcards
Required practical 1-12 revision sheets
Year 13 spaced repetition timetable
Printable weekly revision timetable
Revision questions and answers covering topic 1 of the AQA GCSE Biology Specification (suitable for both Triple and Combined Science students).
Questions & answers covering the entire AQA GCSE Biology Specification are available in my TES shop.
Concise
Includes diagrams
Mapped to the specification
Model answers based on extensive past paper analysis
Clear question & answer format to encourage active learning
Includes 6-mark exam-style required practical method questions, where relevant
Columns to mark each individual question as red, amber or green based on current understanding.
Triple only / higher tier only content is NOT on a grey background to distinguish it, all questions and answers are on a white background to allow students to highlight/add colour should they wish.
Designed to promote spaced repetition of topics throughout the GCSE teaching. Rather than revision notes, which encourage passive learning (because most students just read through them or copy them out), these questions and answers are designed to encourage active learning.
Triple and Higher Tier only content is marked, so these questions are suitable for all candidates.
UPDATE MAY 2024: This resource has been updated based on more recent mark schemes.
Comprehensive revision question and answer tables for section 1 of the AQA AS / A2 Biology specification. Excellent revision resource for self-assessment.
Clickable powerpoint quiz (10 multiple choice questions of varying difficulty) to quickly assess understanding of the carbohydrates topic of A-level Biology.
Press play on the Powerpoint & click on the ‘click to begin button’. The embedded links will automatically take students to a page telling them if their selected answers are correct or incorrect. Where applicable, information is given as to why their answer is incorrect (this is not given for all questions as extra information woudl would give the answer away in some cases).
Printable revision timetables ideal for GCSE and A-level students.
Download contains 4 different colour options, plus one black and white version.
For each different colour, there is an option with time slots already completed & a blank version for students to choose their own timings for each session.
The two hour slots at the beginning & end of each day are for completing past papers - for any other revision, make sure you have a break after 1 hour of revising. I personally don’t suggest students timetable revision for early in the morning and late in the evening on the same day - choosing one or the other is usually best, depending on when students work best.
Student progress checklist and key word sheet for the Cells and Organisation KS3 topic.
Also included are two quick ideas for diffusion practicals and a generic practical recording sheet for students to complete.
