This PPT introduces some facts about Christmas traditions in Germany as a multiple choice-style quiz. At the end of the PPT, there is then an advent calendar-style game about the facts and vocab.

The text is on the topic of sports and is aimed more at KS3. In 2 teams, pupils choose a word to find in the text. The pupils don’t know what each word is worth. Click on the word they have chosen when they have correctly identified it in the text and their score will be revealed. The winning team is the team with the highest score once all words have been found in the text.

This is a mini class test I did with my Year 10 lower ability group after learning how to form regular verbs in the perfect tense for homework.

Add your own verb and its paradigm to this slide, allowing pupils to practise conjugating the given verb in pairs, using a dice.

This PPT explains on a simple level how to use two verbs together in French.

This presentation explains present tense verbs in French. Regular -er, -re and -ir verbs are covered, as well as the key irregular verbs aller, avoir, être and faire.

Each student gets a card with French on it. They have to find the student who has the only other card that can go with theirs.

Literally that! Tables of ‘aller’ and ‘faire’ in the present tense for students to stick in their books.

An idea from Rachel Hawkes – thank you, as always! Give the pupils phrases in TL or in English. They mill around the room, testing random pupils in the class. If the pupils they ask get the answer right, they write their name in one of the boxes underneath the phrase.

This is an information PPT for students, designed to prepare them for the AQA GCSE listening and reading exams, although I’m sure it’ll work with the Edexcel papers too. The PPT includes some tips, ‘pesky words’, synonyms, etc.

Very simply, a triangle divided into three parts. Students write in whichever section they wish, according to what they have learned in the lesson.

My students stick this into the front cover of their exercise books and use it to record summative assessment results each half-term, giving them an overview of their progress over the year. It’s in the shape of an arrow and, at the end of the arrow, they write their target grade/level. When they record their assessment results, they also have to write a few words to say what they will do to try to improve their result for the next assessment.

I use this when marking a set of books or assessment. It’s useful for noting down any common issues, WWW or EBI ideas, extension ideas, positive praise to give, late work to chase up, etc.

I sometimes use letter shapes as a starter activity. Use the shapes on the sheet instead of the letters themselves. You could leave accents above letters as they are, or use the shapes for those as well.

This one-page lesson plan allows you to have the long-term, medium-term and lesson plan all in one place, putting your plan into context. There’s space for the lesson details, including any homework and resources needed, a hyperlink to your seating plan, notes, students to note and a space for your evaluation.

My students stick this sheet into their exercise books at the start of the year for reference throughout the year. It has literacy codes on it, along with some phrases to help the students speak spontaneously (they tally every time they use one of the phrases). Alongside the literacy codes used in students’ work, there are columns for me to tick each term, which means students have to focus on their weakest area (spelling, punctuation, etc.). The ‘STAC’ referred to on the sheet is an assessed piece of work done each term, but this can be deleted/edited as you please.

This PPT teaches students how to say what food and drink they like or dislike.

Not just food and drink, but quantities in general. A simple set of a few phrases, some of which make sense and some of which do not. Then students can make their own phrases for their partner.
