Having been over a load of exam papers recently I decided to put together some statements regarding number (odd, even, primes), use of the identity sign, graphs, ratio; there are seven slides in total (plus answers) with increasingly difficult statements to cater for a whole class. The idea is to generate discussion and mathematical thinking, probably at the start of a lesson but use it when you like (if at all).

This was written with AQA Further Maths Level 2 Certificate in mind but could easily be used for GCSE candidates. The joke is a classic as the students won’t guess it but it is actually quite funny (I didn’t write it, clearly).

The usual joke to find the punchline for but two sheets: sheet one is relatively easy whereas sheet two is all mixed numbers. Corrections made to codebreaker 1 - thank you for spotting them for me!

Some quizzes on fun maths facts. Ideal for KS3 and KS4 students. I decided to do a maths quiz in the style of a pub quiz - hope you enjoy it. It's supposed to be a bit of fun, end of term type thing.

Use the information to cost the building of a swimming pool. I have tried to use genuine values for costs of hire and labour, so the the results should be fairly accurate.

This is a revision aid where students must read the 'notes' carefully and find the deliberate errors (and possibly undeliberate ones!). I have split (with some overlap) it up into three parts going from 'what is an expression/identity/equation?', through simplifying, expanding brackets, factorising into a bracket, solving equations, multiplying out 2 brackets, factorising quadratics and solving quadratics (factorising, completing the square and the formula). The aim is to get them active in their revision!
