I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Watch the videos and then use inequalities and height restrictions to solve some simple problems. This was an idea my student teacher had and I took it in a slightly different direction with number lines etc. It is an introduction to inequalities. Videos now on the powerpoint.

Usain Bolt worksheet. This is a speed, distance, time activity using the Visa advert of Usain Bolt racing the starter across London from Heathrow. It is an Olympic based activity. Powerpoint now also contains video.

QR Code Puzzle 10 - Rounding

Round the numbers - if it rounds up, colour in the appropriate square; if it rounds down, leave that square blank. When finished it scans to Dead Or Alive's 1985 classic 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)'. Poor pun, but the best I could do!

Describe the transformations of the letters to spell the word 'MATHS'. It was an idea suggested by one of my Year 11s that seemed decent.

Conclusions From Statistical Graphs

This is a pretty simple idea for various abilities where you display a graph and the class have to write down all that the graph tells them, in full sentences! I have included a couple of misleading graphs too, which adds a bit of differentiation.

A revision powerpoint covering as many aspects of data handling as possible, from tally charts (G/1), bar charts (F/1), pie charts (E/2), averages (D/3), stem-and-leaf diagrams (C/4) including quartiles (B/3), grouped data (C/5), scatter graphs (C/5), cumulative frequency (B/6), box-and-whisker plots (B/6) and finally histograms (A/7). There is a progress sheet to print off and test questions to try/practise.

This is a start or end of term activity just to stretch the mathematical hamstrings. Find the punchline to a joke by answering the questions.

Tables and Equations of Lines Match Up

(0)
There two sets of tables (one without negative values of x and one with) and equations to match up. There are two more tables than equations meaning that guessing is far more difficult but as an extension students can work out the missing equations of lines. This should encourage some discussion too.

Vampire Diaries - Measures

Three levels starting at simple metric conversion, then calculating with different metric units before converting imperial to metric. I used Vampire Diaries as one of my Year 9 class requested it. The worksheet is set out as a "RAG" activity where you prove what you know by answering the questions. It's short enough to be a plenary or starter and the presentation can be split into individual tasks.
