I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Collective Memory - Add,Subtract,Multiply,Divide

Inspired by mrbarton's collective memory tasks that my classes have enjoyed I wrote these for some lower ability classes I teach. There are calculations for them to do too. If you don't know how they work, get students in groups of 3/4, show the file on the board for 30 seconds and they try to copy what they remember from it (no writing whilst file is being shown). Show the file a total of 4 or 5 times. Great for discussions etc.

This was done using a free piece of software (search online for 'Physics Tracker') to track objects and plot a distance/time graph. I designed it to be a discussion activity, explaining what's happening at each stage of the graph.

Rearranging Area Formulae

Nothing particularly enlightening here other than I found that using function machines to show how to calculate a dimension given the area formula seemed to work quite nicely with a class of mine. This should be a discussion activity in my view.

The name was suggested by a pupils of mine, but it's pretty self explanatory. Describe Bear&'s journey across the Lake District, where he meets friends and ends up at Stan Laurel&';s birthplace in Ulverston!

Broken Turntable Circle Theorems - Worksheet - KS4

This is a word document worksheet involving finding the missing angles using circle theorems for KS4. A colleague of mine gave me this idea of using records and circle theorems - you have to calculate the missing angles to get the turntable fixed in each case. I've chosen some of my favourite albums! A separate answer sheet is included.

This is just a general, 'end-of-term' activity containing a few different, and fairly simple maths problems, including co-ordinates, locus, Pythagoras/trigonometry/scale drawing, conversion, solving linear equations, ratio, substitution. It is designed for most students to do.

I found this map of the Neet (Not in Employment, Education or Training) data from 2009/10. I have looked at Worthing purely because that's where I work. Not the most happy statistics, but real-life and relevent to the kids, and might encourage them to get the best grades they can before they because a statistic!

Watch the videos and then use inequalities and height restrictions to solve some simple problems. This was an idea my student teacher had and I took it in a slightly different direction with number lines etc. It is an introduction to inequalities. Videos now on the powerpoint.

Fenton the dog likes chasing deer and geese through Richmond Park (the original video from YouTube is included in the Notebook file).
