Topics@Psychology#5: A shocking truth about perception
An Introduction to understanding a neuroscientific evaluation of the reliability of our perception (the external environment as constructed within our levels of consciousness and states of awareness).
The PPT slides progressively covers our modalities (senses) and destroys much of what we believe and supports the argument that we cannot be sure anything really exists outside of our neural networks.
Areas covered include: Synesthesia, does sound exist and The Matrixication of Reality (McCarthy and Lech, 2011)… This paper is uploaded as a free resource
Consists of a PPT display (45 slides) with under slide comments linking to online videos; to supplement understanding. Within the slides are activities and things to think about.
The final slide has links to various internet resources
You are welcome to amend, expand or reduce the display to suit your needs.
