The season focus for this lesson is spring. Many detailed pictures are attached of spring as a season, spring weather, spring rain spring bulbs, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses, and snowdrops, wildflowers, gardening, nest building, and baby animals. Children will then create a word mat using the letters S, P, R, I, N and G to later make an acrostic poem that spells Winter. Maths Resources - Part Whole Model - Blank Template - KS1/KS2 The part whole model is a pictorial representation that shows the relationship between a whole and its parts. The part whole model is often used for small quantities where children should be able to see how many of something is there without counting, instead, they will subitise; they can also use base tens or hundreds to visualise the division. This part whole model template is divided in 3 parts. The part whole model template helps create a solid foundation of understanding numbers. Both KS1 and KS2 children with a good foundation will begin to really explore numbers, they are encouraged to think of numbers in different ways. For example, they will begin to see the number seven as 4 and 3 or 5 and 2. Materials (counters, cubes and objects) can be used to aid when dividing. This template comes in both vertical and horizontal formats. It also comes in a A4 page but can be enlarged and be printed on A3.
