Here is a little introduction to arrays. There are three resources. Part 1 has lots of pictures of real life arrays as well as the traditional arrangement of dots. Each with a frame to write multiplication equations. The part 2 resource has lots of arrays made of clip art style pictures with a frame to write multiplication equations. Part 3 has further explanation of arrays and array work presented in various styles ie. in pictures, dots, etc. There is also a template for children to use to make and draw their own array. Here are the resources I use with my students to learn about the structure of trees (parts of a tree) and the differences between coniferous and deciduous trees. There are opportunities for children to answer questions with a talk partner or as a class to develop their ideas for writing. Included within the lesson starters is a sample of what their writing might look like and a few prompts for the student to use to keep them on track. To aid in starting to identify trees, I’ve included a lesson starter about identifying and describing an oak tree. There is a word bank and worksheet for this task.
