A video featuring a range of faces, foods from around the world, architecture and landscapes and celebrations form around the world. The video opens with a quote about the diversity and closes with the line 'One human race'. The video should provide springboard for discussion and reflection. To follow this up I have produced some worksheets featuring things form the video- 5 versions- food, music, sports, transports and festivals from around the world. They can label and colour these and a lovely quote is included at the top about respecting difference and valuing others.

An easy activity to set up which will keep pupils engaged and enthused. Print off the 2 board games plus answer sheets. Give dice and counters (could be scrap of paper with pupils initials). Pupils play with answer sheet freeing you up to lead another activity or intervene to support. 2 versions: easy questions and harder questions.

Interactive powerpoint multiple choice quiz. The first slide is a grid of 12 numbers. A pupil comes to the front and selects any number. This will take them to a slide with an image on and 3 possible answers. If they choose correctly they are sent to a ‘tres bien’ slide; incorrectly sends them to a ‘on non’ slide and automatically rteurns them to the question to have another try.

A cute French letter to Father Christmas: pupils simply write their name and age and address and ask Father Christmas for 3 things. You could provide a list, get them to look up in dictionaries or draw/stick images depending on age group and ability. To save printing costs (and extend the length of the activity), opt to display the letters on the IWB and pupils copy the model letter, filling in the gaps.

Greta for the last few lessons when pupils wnat to feel like they are having an easy lesson but you are actually giving them something really useful and meaningful. Each worsheet has 5 garlands witht eh verb conjugated along the garland. the garland below has some of the conjugations removed for the pupils to fill in. he final garland at the bottom of the page is cimpletely blank for pupils to fill in from memory. A great free video included to introduce this worksheet and engage pupils.

A game board to practise nouns and simple sentences. 2 versions included for differentiation purposes. Answer key included (so pupils work independently). Great to introduce sports in a novel way- give them the board game and a dictionary and it is a really fun way to challenge them to learn sports nouns. Use it as follow up once you have introduced the vocabulary as it is an excellent way of practising speaking and listening skills. Other important features: pupil independence, pupil collaboration, challenge and competition. I always have 100% engagement when I give them a board game (I have others available). A rewarding way to differentiate- what better incentive to complete the task than to know you can play a game at the end! No need to cut anything- just print. A4 is fine, A3 is great. Add dice and counters. (I get pupils to use spare coins for counters and lots of them have dice roll app on their phones these days if you are struggling for these). Excellent for introducing the near furture tense- just add je vais before the infinitive.. Highly interactive activity. Ensures all pupils participate. After traditional rounds where the game snakes around the classroom you could introduce element of competition by racing against the clock. A fantastic use of the cards is to get pupils to stand in a circle according to the sequence of the cards. Great for energy and enthusiasm!

A mini book about a monster. All body parts are labelled in French. Pupils can colour and fold the mini book to create a mini book about a monster and all of the parts of its face. Pupils could then use it as a mini dictionary as they discover the topic and and possibly create their own monster.

Credit card sized word clouds- excellent starter activity. Great for revision as well. Could give out as an extension tool for early finishers. Give them out upon arrival and give them a time frame. At the end of the timeframe pupils go head to head in a 'bidding war'. Each pupil says how many they can translate and have to prove it. The highest bidder goes first- if he can get to his bid he wins, if he can't the next bidder goes and has to get to his highest bid to win.
