This is a 5 lesson French unit for KS2. It teaches children vocabulary around the theme of ‘Seasons, Dates and Weather.’ The plans all give details of a starter, how to teach the new vocabulary, followed by a combination of listening activities, speaking activities, reading/writing activities and plenary. Each lesson is highly interactive and allows children to practise a range of language skills. All resources needed for the lessons are included in the price. This includes a PowerPoint for each containing the new vocabulary. (This unit could be combined with other Blossoming Minds’ French units. This is unit 9 in the sequence.)

This is a plan and resources for a French lesson to use with KS2. It involves children learning how to talk about healthy and unhealthy living in French. For example, they learn to say that vegetables are healthy and junk food is unhealthy. The plan gives details of an active starter, how to teach the vocabulary, a listening game, a reading activity, a written activity and a plenary. This is Blossoming Minds’ second set of 10 PowerPoints to help prepare your class for the Phonics Screening Check. Each PowerPoint includes 40 words, one on each slide. 20 words are pretend or ‘alien’ words and 20 are real words. They are organised in the same way as the screening check, starting with four simple phase 2 words, before moving on to phase 3, 4 and 5 and concluding with more complex words. Get your class to call out together or choose targeted children to decode the words. Use throughout the year - fit in during 5 minute gaps or use during a phonics lesson to make sure your entire class are prepared for the screening check!

This resource is a comprehension activity based on the year 6 reading comprehension SATs paper. The theme for the comprehension is the story of the Annunciation (when Mary is visited by the Angel Gabriel). I have rewritten the Bible story to resemble the style of the SATs reading paper. There is a reading booklet followed by four or five pages of questions, which contains a range of questions based on last year’s paper. There is also a mark scheme at the end of the booklet. I have included 3 differentiated levels. The HA level is similar to the SATs paper, whilst the MA and LA use slightly simplified wording in the reading and question booklet and could also be used by year 5s.
