German GCSE New Specifications – Speaking Exam – Photo Cards, General Conversation, Reading Exam -Translations, Exam Rubrics. This is a bundle of 4 large resources: 1. A booklet that can be given to all GCSE students, containing in total 60 translations of varying lengths and levels of challenge. The translations have been created carefully and are in line with exam board exemplar materials. 2. Based on the new specifications of exam boards for German GCSE, there are 40 different photo cards, all have 5 questions. The range of questions covers both foundation and higher tiers. The cards cover all 3 themes and all topics/sub-themes. 3. This is a booklet that can be printed for each student and contains over 150 general conversation questions. These questions have put together by researching all exam boards specifications and example materials. The questions are in themes are also broken down into topics/ sub-themes. Within each set of questions in a sub-theme, they have be classified into tenses so that pupils can be clear of the tense they need to use to answer the relevant question. 4. For the new GCSE exams, pupils will be expected to understand all German exam rubrics. This PowerPoint goes through all rubrics needed, starting with understanding the main verbs, commonly used words and then through to whole instructions in German. There are plenty of exercises for pupils to complete and a worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint.

Easily adaptable for home learning. This is a set of resources to introduce and practise food & drink items. The PowerPoint initially introduces food and drink items in categories, with practice exercises to follow each set. In total there are over 70 food and drink items and the resource is easily adaptable if you want to introduce less. The work in this pack of resources will certainly cover several lessons. There are a range of activities on the PowerPoint and an accompanying worksheet. Also included in the pack is a word search, an odd one out activity. The PowerPoint introduces a café conversation and then an activity for pupils to make their own conversations in pairs; reading comprehension exercises; and a ‘design your own menu’ activity in a step-by-step format. The PowerPoint goes on to introduce quantities with examples and practice activities as well as a dialogue ‘au marché’ that pupils can then replicate in pairs. Pupils will gain a good knowledge of a wide range of food and drink items, and will be able to recognise and use them in a range of situations.

This covers the whole of Theme 2, Topic 2 – ‘Social Issues’. The PowerPoint is very lengthy (68 slides) and contains work for six or seven lessons. The PowerPoint is broken down into four sections: 1) Grammar; 2) Listening; 3) Reading and Writing; and 4) Speaking. There are several different worksheets to accompany a broad range of exercises on the PowerPoint, as well as a transcript for the listening and answer sheets also appear on the PowerPoint. Easily adaptable for home learning. This a sample of the resource packs that I have created for the GCSE New Specifications for each topic area within each theme. This sample contains many of the slides from the original PowerPoint and aims to give you an insight into these resources so you can ‘try before you buy’. In this PowerPoint there are still 51 slides, but this is quite a lot less than the payable resource and the listening section as well as parts of reading and speaking sections have been omitted. Also in the original resources there are always answers and a whole range of worksheets to go with the PowerPoint. I hope it’s useful.

Great for home learning. This PowerPoint introduces pupils to 20 zoo/ wild animals. The animals can be practised via pictures and then are followed with a listening activity. There is a word document that can be used for pupils to complete with the PowerPoint. There are anagrams of the words and a match up activity. The plurals for the animals are introduced and then adjectives to describe them. There are translation exercises, a speaking task and reading comprehensions. Different animal habitats are introduced and then matched to different animals. There are also snake sentences to unjumble and write out. By the end of the PowerPoint (78 slides) pupils should be able to confidently speak/ write about these animals.

This pack has two PowerPoints that explain how to put past perfect tense verbs in to the negative form. The first PowerPoint goes through forming the negative with n'/ne and pas for all verbs except reflexives. It then goes on to introduce ne ... rien/ jamais/plus/que. Each section has a range of exercises to complete and there is a worksheet to accompany the PowerPoint. These exercises include a reading comprehension and transition exercises, important to start early on, ready for the new GCSE specifications. The second PowerPoint follows a very similar format for reflexive perfect tense verbs and has exercises to complete. These presentations compliment my Complete Guide to Past Perfect Tense Verbs, following a tried and tested method.

This PowerPoint introduces pupils to direct and indirect object pronouns in a step-by-step format (except y & en, as these feature as a separate resource). The slides contain grammar notes that pupils can note in their exercise books and use as a reference for all future work using these pronouns. The PowerPoint goes through all uses of direct object pronouns and then there are exercises to check comprehension, with answers. The PowerPoint then goes through indirect object pronouns in the same format. There are further exercises to ensure comprehension of using more than one pronoun in different situations. There is also a lengthy worksheet, which accompanies the PowerPoint (45 slides). This is a tried and tested method to ensure comprehension and check the ability to confidently form both direct and indirect object pronouns.

This is a set of 30 role-plays in a printable format to use for mock/ preparation/ class practice for speaking exams. These are all based on Theme 1 – Identity and Culture and have been compiled by studying exemplar materials given by all exam boards. There are 15 foundation tier and 15 higher tier role-plays. There is a teacher’s pack for each set of role-plays, giving the teacher’s part for each conversation. There are also two PowerPoints, one for the foundation role-plays, one for the higher set. Each PowerPoint starts with an explanation of the role play section of the exam and then shows each role play card, followed by showing the (!) unknown question so that students can also prepare for that/ start to predict what the unknown question could be.

Based on the new specifications of exam boards for German GCSE, I have produced 40 different photo cards, all have 5 questions. The range of questions covers both foundation and higher tiers. The cards cover all 3 themes and all sub-themes. The questions are based on information/ specifications/ sample materials from several exam boards. They can be used over many lessons for practising this part of the exam and/or as part of mock exams.

For pupils studying the Perfect Tense, this is a whole set of resources based on an exciting murder mystery. It includes, not only the murder mystery, but starter activities, two plenaries, extension documents, lesson plans etc. Pupils work in groups and compete against the other groups to solve the murder first. This set of resources was used for both Ofsted and internally reviews lessons which were rated as 'outstanding'. The objectives are: To enhance thinking skills in order to participate effectively in a team and reflect on learning. To consolidate prior knowledge of the past tense in order to further develop understanding and accuracy.

This document is in the format of worksheets/ a booklet that can be given to all GCSE students. It is broken down into themes and then into the topics within each theme. For each topic there are 10 translation exercises, as on the Reading Exam. It is contains in total 120 translations of varying lengths and levels of challenge. The translations have been created carefully and are in line with exam board exemplar materials. This could be used by pupils at the end of teaching each topic/ sub-theme in order to test/ check understanding and to practise translation skills or used for wider translation purposes.

This is a set of 28 question cards and 28 answer cards to get your pupils speaking to each other in French and great to use as starters for target language practice. They include questions about name age, likes, favourites, preferences, family, daily routine, and many more. These fun colourful cards can be printed and cut into individual question and answer cards to be used in several different ways, depending on the ability and confidence of your students: Both question and answer cards can be given to students in pairs to practice a conversation. (Easier level) Question cards only given to pairs to practice a conversation. Students will need to form their own answers. (Middle level) Students are only given the answer cards and need to use these to form the relevant questions. (Harder level) It is essential that pupils can ask questions (not just answer them).
