This document is in the format of worksheets/ a booklet that can be given to all GCSE students. It is broken down into themes and then into the topics within each theme. For each topic there are 10 translation exercises, as on the Reading Exam. It is contains in total 120 translations of varying lengths and levels of challenge. The translations have been created carefully and are in line with exam board exemplar materials. This could be used by pupils at the end of teaching each topic/ sub-theme in order to test/ check understanding and to practise translation skills or used for wider translation purposes.
This set of resources is aimed at German students who are going to be introduced to the present tense verb conjugation. There is lesson plan and all resources, including a Powerpoint presentation for entire lesson(s), a detailed lesson plan, worksheets etc needed for one or two lessons, after which time students will be able to conjugate regular present tense verbs and understand all grammar terms used.

The vocabulary is categorised in to sections – including themes and topics within themes. It is easy to use these sections or even break down the sections to set regular vocabulary learning homework. This ensures that over the two-year GCSE course, students have been exposed to all essential vocabulary. This document is in a printable friendly format for students or can be stored as a computer document for them. The vocabulary comes from the AQA specifications, but contains some extras, particularly in the topics of: technology, social issues and global issues.
This is a PowerPoint of over 650 words, essential vocabulary for GCSE. There are 64 slides of vocabulary and 12 words/phrases per slide. Each word/phrase comes on to the screen one at a time and all vocabulary is in French only. The vocabulary in quite a random order, as it would be to pupils when they hear or read texts in the listening and/or reading exams. It is really useful to recap what vocabulary they know, and then get pupils to record vocabulary that is new to them. You can then go back next lesson to those slides to confirm what they have retained. It can also be use in a competitive way, in teams to see which team knows the most vocabulary. However you use it, it covers a very wide range of essential vocabulary, a key to successful revision at GCSE level.
This is a set of three lengthy PowerPoints that can be used over 2/3 lessons. The first PowerPoint introduces an extensive range of grammatical terms, including pronouns, infinitives, conjugated verbs, articles, intensifiers and many more with lots of examples. There is a plenary/test to check students’ comprehension. The other two PowerPoints have a more in-depth check of understanding with French texts; one for students who have only covered present tense verbs; and the other covering three tenses.

This resource explains the uses of French infinitives for GCSE level. It starts from the beginning, going over how to recognise infinitives and their uses in French. This grammar sorting challenge is a whole class team game to revise and/ or check pupils’ understanding of grammatical terms. In teams pupils are given a large set of French words and each term must work together to attach each of their words to one of the 8 posters that are stuck up around the classroom with the following headings: Conjugated Verbs, Infinitives, Nouns, Subject Pronouns, Articles, Adjectives, Connectives and Time Phrases. Only one team member is allowed to be out of their seat at any one time. There is a PowerPoint slide to show the challenge on the board and it has a sound document attached - this is a timed challenge and pupils have only the length of the song to complete the challenge. At the end, teams are scored by the correct number of words they have under the appropriate grammatical headings. Each team has their words in a different colour font and therefore you can easily identify to which team the words belong. I have also included a further explanation document with this resource. This is a fun cultural resource that goes through various Spanish Christmas traditions, in English, including some Spanish words. This is aimed at pupils in both KS2 and KS3. There are 16 slides of information and pictures. After that, there is a multiple-choice quiz to check what pupils have understood and/or information they have retained. The quiz is on the PowerPoint (as are the answers) but there is also a separate worksheet version of the quiz. There is a writing / drawing activity for pupils to do at the end and a separate word search document which has words from the activities.
