New Spanish GCSE: Theme 3 (Current and future study and employment) Photo Cards. UPDATED

(2)
A set of 26 Photo Cards covering the whole of Theme 3 (Current and future study and employment) of the new GCSE course: 3.a. My studies (8 cards) 3.b. Life at school / college (6 cards) 3.c. Education post-16 (4 cards) 3.d. Jobs, career choices and ambitions (8 cards) Each card includes five foundation questions (in red) and five higher question (in blue), the first of which is always '¿Qué hay en la foto?. If you like this resource, Photo Cards for theme one and theme two, as well as a booklet covering all three themes, are also available in my shop. UPDATED: I have modified this resource to better resemble the photo cards on the AQA exam: there are now five foundation and five higher questions on each card (instead of four). At foundation level one of the first three questions (what in the exam would be the printed questions) requires the use of a tense other than the present. At higher level references to three time frames are needed, with one time frame other than the present required in one of the first three questions and the remaining time frame in one of the other two questions.

The foundation paper includes four questions (describe the photo, 40 words question, translation and 90 words question) and the higher paper includes three (90 words question, 150 words question and translation). The papers focus on Theme 1 of the new spec (Identity and culture) and they cover family and relationships, technology and leisure. I have also included two feedback sheets (one foundation, now higher) that include"check-lists" (based on the AQA mark scheme for writing) to provide quick, personalised feedback for each of the questions. The check lists provide the students with feedback on what went well (WWW) and what they need to do to improve further (TIF). This booklet contains 36 speaking cards based on Theme 1 ans Theme 2 of the new AQA Spanish A Level course (Aspects of Hispanic society and Artistic culture in the Hispanic world). In other words, the themes covered in the AS course (Year one of the A Level course). The cards contain (quite a lot) of factual information about the theme (a lot more than the sample cards from AQA) and three questions, the first one always being "How do you react to the information on this card). The aim of presenting the cards like this is to provide the students with a lot of ideas on what to say about the theme, as well as making them more aware that they always have to discuss the information printed on the card (AO2 and AO4). Each section is followed by around 20 questions for the students to research / discuss the topic further. Finally, there are two alternative versions of the booklet, one with the overview and mark schemes for paper 3 in the AS course and another one with the overview and mark schemes for the whole A Level course.

Finally, there is also a section on complex structures on the second page, with plenty of examples of comparatives and superlatives, conditional sentences (“si fuera…”) and negative sentences and structures with the infinitive (para+infinitive). Cuando era pequeño (opinions in different tenses in Spanish)

Cuando era pequeño (opinions in different tenses in Spanish)

I find this the single more useful worksheet I have written. It is a simple template to write an extended sentence about how opinons havechanged (When I was little I liked... because it was..., but now...). I have been using it with all my Spanish groups (7-11) in the last couple of years, insisting that they always use the structure in their written and oral work, and by doing this they automatically include two tenses, a variety of connectives and adjectives and opinions in all their work. I have also included two further resources as examples of how I've been using it.
