There is a little game as well that has students try to determine if various physical characteristics are caused by their genes or the environment. This is a complete PRINTABLE BOARD GAME designed and created by myself. It is designed to be a review game for the Ecology unit for KS3 or KS4 Biology. Basic Outline Students roll dice to move game pieces around the forest in search for food as either a rabbit or a fox. Students will be required to answer questions in order to successfully claim a piece of food. The first to obtain 5 pieces wins the game. Be careful not to get caught by the fox! Game Includes Game board (should be printed on A3) 60+ questions cards (some blank to add your own) Chance cards (some blank to add your own) Answer sheet for the questions Game rules sheet NOTE: Dice not included. Instructions for set up The game board should be printed on A3 paper in colour. Laminating it will keep it safe for a long time. The chance cards and question cards are included in a PPT and should be printed out DOUBLE SIDED so they can be easily glued and cut out together. I recommend printing it on light card stock so they are more durable. The game pieces and the carrot and meat pieces are also included in the question and chance card PPT and should be printed in colour and cut out. The answer sheet should be printed out in colour. Additionally the different tests for these biological molecules is included as well (eg. Biuret’s solution for proteins) There is also an outline of how to carry out a vitamin C test using DCPIP. This lesson can be used as an introduction to the topic or as a prequel to having the students carry out the food tests, maybe as a “mystery solution” investigation where you have different samples of foods in different solutions labeled A,B,C,D etc. There is also several links to supportive YouTube videos included as well.
