Art gives children unlimited potential to solve problems, think creatively and to express their thoughts. I commend all of the wonderful teachers out there that support the arts and see the amazing potential that art has to radiate positivity in the hearts of everyone. In the wake of the recent Coronavirus scare, it is urgent to educate children on recognizing the importance of proper hand washing and hygiene techniques to get rid of and prevent the spread of germs. They will do this by constructing and designing 2 opposite characters that symbolize a hand that is properly washed verses unwashed aka the superhero clean hand verses the villain dirty hand therefore encouraging imaginative play through these customized characters of a protagonist verses an antagonist. They will learn to associate the properties of each one with this visual aid that they will remember to identify clean verses dirty hands. They will also be able to define the vocabulary word for the scientific term for germ - pathogen and how they get transferred.
