GCSE Maths /Functional Skills-Revision Clock-Area-Perimeter of Rectangles and Triangles

(0)
GCSE Foundation Maths/Functional Skills 12 questions on perimeter and area of rectangles and triangles that learners answer on a clock face. I set a timer of 30 minutes for the activity, learners have to complete their revision clocks in that time limit. I print the questions out on A4 paper and the blank clocks out on A3 paper. The learners pair up and answer the questions. Works well for revision. Clock Template included. I usually put the clock face up on IWB and get learners to write their answers and methods in at various points through the 30 minutes.

Learners compete to get 4 counters across the board by answering simple percentage of amounts. Questions can be done in head or on paper, no need for calculator. Learners split into two teams red and green. Each team tries to get 4 red or green circles, horizontally or diagonally across the screen by answering percentage of amount questions. One member of a team chooses a celebrity, a question will appear. If answered correctly the box will change to that teams colour. If wrong then the other team get a chance to answer The team first to four in a row win. Make the game harder by setting a time limit for each answer using an online timer.

This is a 65 page editable revision workbook written for the Level 2 Functional skills Maths exam. Ideal for end of year exam preparation or intervention. Includes examples of methods and exam type questions. Has been well received by my learners and also colleagues who have used it within my college. I made this to give out to some of my learners whose attendance was intermittent and it helped them pass their L2 exams. Written with functional skills in mind but would be useful for GCSE Foundation as well.

Functional Skills Maths -L2 Revision Relay

Twelve exam style questions that are great for Revision before exam includes popular exam topics such as tree diagrams, scatter graphs, percentages, scale maps and drawings, formula, barcharts and averages and range. I focused on areas identified in examiner reports as being weak. I have included instructions off how to run the revision relay. I have used it as a traditional quiz with answers displayed on screen and learners marking each others work. I have also used it as a revision race, with each question being printed on separate sheets (or a few on A3 paper) and learners only getting next question when their answer is checked and correct. Bring a bit of life into a Revision session If you like the resource give me a review.

Powerpoint contains short questions for learners to complete on mini whiteboards in whole class activity and more questions for them to complete individually. Answers are included and will display on screen for learners to self-assess. I have used a visually appealing dinosaur theme throughout as a hook to interest the learner in the topic. Clips from Jurasic Park could be used to introduce the topic.
