Description:
This is a 2-page decoder ring worksheet. Each worksheet has a total of thirty scrambled words, a scrambled word decoder, sentence clues with the scrambled words missing and a word bank at the bottom of the second page.
How to Use It:
Students will look at the word bank and use the words to fill in the missing words in the sentence clues. The missing words become the target words to be unscrambled with the decoder.
Students will use the decoder ring to crack the scramble code and then write each unscrambled word on the line beside the scrambled code word. The letters in each word have been shifted clockwise a specific number of spaces on the decoder ring. The secret code is different for each word.
These worksheets can be printed and handed out to students in the class. They also work great for extra homework practice.

How to Play It:
Play the English Chutes and Ladders like a regular board game except students begin at the bottom of the game and move upwards.
If a student lands on a space with a ladder they may climb up to the space where the ladder ends. If they land on a Chute they must slide down to the space where the chute ends.
As students move around the board they will use the target language to perform the tasks on the spaces they land on, whether it be answer a question or fill in the missing word.
How to Score It:
If students give the correct answer they can remain on their spot until their next turn. If students give the incorrect answer they must go back to their previous spot and wait until their next turn to try again. Have Students spell the words for an extra challenge! Note: Incorrect answers do not count with ladders.
Notes:
Paper markers and dice pattern are included on page 2.
An answer key and instructions are included on page 3.
All chutes and ladders board games are formatted to be printed on legal size paper. However, you can use a pdf editor to take a snapshot of the game, paste it into a clean word document, and then stretch or shrink it to any size you want.

How to Play It:

How to Play It:
The teacher will call out a particular square and ask the question or read the information in the square. Students will search to see if they have the information square.
Students must write the answer to the question or fill in the blank in their square. If students complete the information correctly, then the square belongs to them or they own the square.
How to Score It:
If you play tic-tac-toe the students must own 3 consecutive spaces, up and down, across or diagonally. The first student that does so wins the game.
If you play bingo you can instruct students to take ownership of the squares in a “U” shape, a “T” shape, a square or have them do a “blackout” in which they must own all of the squares on the card in order to win the game.
Notes:
Each game includes 4 pages with 4 cards on each page. Every card has the information on a different spot. The game includes instructions and an answer key. The teacher will use page 1 for an answer key.

Descriptions:
Battleship:
Battleship is a game for two players. Players try to guess the location of five ships their opponent has hidden on a grid. The goal is to sink all of your opponent’s ships by correctly guessing their location. If a student “hits” an opponent’s ship, their opponent must use the target language to perform the tasks on the spaces that they land on, whether it be answer a question or fill in the missing word.
Board Game:
Students will roll the die and move the number of spaces rolled. They will use the target language to perform the tasks on the spaces that they land on, whether it be answer a question or fill in the missing word. The student that reaches the finish square first or is closest to it when time is up wins!
Card Game:
Students are dealt cards. Students will use the target language to perform the tasks on those cards, whether it be answer a question or fill in the missing word. If students are correct, they must put the card face down in front of them and wait for their next turn. If students are incorrect they must put the card back in their playing stack and use the card again on a future turn. The student that has all of their cards face down in front of them first Wins!
Checkers Game:
Play checkers with two people and a board consisting of 64 squares. The board alternates between 32 red and 32 black squares. Students will take turn moving across the board. A player wins the game when the opponent cannot make a move. With all checkerboard moves, students will use the target language to perform the tasks on the spaces they land on, whether it be answer a question or fill in the missing word.
Chutes & Ladders Game:
Play the Chutes and Ladders like a regular board game except students begin at the bottom of the game and move upwards. Each task has five photos and text. The writing section has ten photos and blanks lines to compose sentences on. The fourth page is the answer key.
How to Use It:
Students will look at the photos and use the grammar topic to write about what is in them. Then students will use the photos to help them fill in the missing words in either the reading or conversation paragraphs. In the writing section, students will write about the photos and they will use the photos and the grammar topic to compose their own sentences. For more advanced students, try having them use some or all of the photos to write their own story or conversation.
These worksheets can be printed and handed out to students in the class.
