This lesson covers both the apparent and absolute magnitude of stars, brightness and luminosity, the logarithmic scale and the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. The H-R diagram includes the positions of the main stellar types, the Sun and the evolutionary path of the Sun.

This set of four lessons goes over the exponential formula used in Physics for radioactive decay as well as teaching the basic rules of logs and why natural logs are used.
This lesson covers the Evolution of the Universe from the Big Bang through all of its major stages, including particle creation, primordial fusion and the development of galaxies. There is a worksheet of questions and answers included in this lesson. Please note that the theory of the Big Bang and the evidence for it is covered in the next lesson of this series.

This is a detailed lesson and PowerPoint explain the uses of radiation, dosage to patients and two examples of non-medical uses. This is the eleventh lesson in the Atomic Structure unit of work (P4).
The lesson covers the selection criteria for isotopes and uses Technetium as an example, enables consideration for balancing and weighing risks to patients and includes data of common treatments. A one page worksheet has been included as a short activity to enable pupils to graph the data and think about the risks of therapy.
There is a detailed lesson plan with notes on teaching, a PowerPoint to support the lesson and a worksheet to aid in delivery / test understanding. There are also ideas for homework tasks and differentiation tasks that can be used by a teacher to develop the lesson further.

This 18 page powerpoint explains the two methods of thermal transfer, goes through a science classroom experiment for each and links to insulation with a third experiment fully explained. There are also links with weather patterns and a discussion of the four variables that control conductive transfer rates.
