Lesson is aimed at developing students’ understanding of the General Election. Lesson looks at the history of voting, what happens in a General Election, who the main parties and leaders are & what the main pledges of each party are. Students have a choice of tasks based on speech writing. They can either write a speech arguing that the voting age should be 16 or write a speech arguing which political party should be in power.

Lesson aimed at practicing skills for Paper 1, Question 5. Students discuss the typical features of a fairytale, watch clips from fairytales and from the TV show ‘Once Upon A Time.’ Students eventually write a story about a fairytale character in the real world. Lesson is differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge.

Lesson is differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge and the GCSE mark scheme. Tasks and questions are differentiated throughout and there is a help sheet to support lower ability students with structuring their answer. Lesson uses the poems ‘Poppies’ and ‘Remains’ and students are asked to think about the key themes, similarities and differences and then eventually answer a differentiated exam style question (3 question choices.) A lesson based around body image and how expectations of body image have changed over the decades. This lesson looks at barbie dolls and at the representation of people on Love Island and asks students to consider if there is too much pressure on young people to look a certain way.

A lesson which looks at life in the trenches for soldiers during WW1. Students are given information about trench life including a diary entry and a poem. Students will write a description based on trench life from the perspective of a soldier during WW1. Differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge.
