This ppt is designed to be a first lesson for BTEC students starting on the BTEC TECH award with a DANCE APPROACH. It features:

Space for Routines for practical and theory lessons which can be tweaked to fit your own.
A breakdown of the three components
An explanation of Assignment briefs
A look at the criteria and how this gives an overall grade.
An overview of how the final grade is calculated

This resource is designed for online or remote learning. It covers key stylistic features of key scenes from Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker. Features listing tasks, extended writing using PIE structure and a creative sweet themed tasks. Videos are embedded to play whilst students can see key information and also comes with a word document that can be sent to students either as a word document or set as an assignment for students to edit live along with the lesson.
This resource is for the beginning of the second phase of the Component 3 exam. I wanted to get my students thinking about different methods/techniques they could use to create more material-something that they will need to write about in their SKILLS LOG which will come in a few weeks time.
The lesson encourages groups to try 2 out of the 4 suggested techniques for coming up with choreography/creating. This could EASILY be changed to 4 drama techniques/musical theatre techniques or even production techniques if needed .
The ppt includes a creation canvas slide that i have printed out A3 for my students to. track their ideas/findings on. The resource also comes with a personal management SKILLS log that i am going to get them to fill out quickly each lesson- this will track their progress/contributions to the process which again they will need to write about in their SKILLS LOG.
A colourful review log for students at milestone 1 for component 2, this gives an outline of what students should include as well as target setting sheets and logs for them to fill in.
This is for component 3 of the BTEC TECH award in performing arts. The resource is geared towards dance but could be easily adapted for drama in a matter of minutes. The mat features the main sections and questions related to them, key spellings, more interesting connectives and a space to put in information about the component 1 practitioners you have studied.
This is a lesson I intend to deliver to my y11 students ahead of their COMPONENT 3 IDEAS LOG controlled asssessment. The ppt uses tips/bulletpoints from BTEC to allow students to see what is required of them during their controlled assessment of the IDEAS LOG. The ppt includes another CREATION CANVAS ( i will print this A3) that students can use to plot out their notes for the task-this can also be broken down and used for the controlled assessment as their notes.
The ppt also has some checking exercises around making detailed points using PIE structure and Paddy MCGuiness themed highlighting peer assessment.
The resource also comes with a simple WORD template that students can use to practice structuring a response.
This is a student booklet for COMPONENT 3, It has a few dance related pages but could be adapted easily for drama to include technique pages etc. The rest is fully generic so can be used for either discipline this features the following pages:
Breakdown of criteria and theme brief.
Local Community mindmap of areas to consider.
Mind map page
Pitch page for students to formulate an idea for a piece that they can share with their group.
Final group idea page with space to justify how the idea meets each section of the brief.
A scene/section planning table to note down the structure of their piece scene by scene.
Rehearsal logs x8 to log what they are working on, targets and actions for the next rehearsals.
Techniques grid to allow them to tick off and make notes when devising for dance- this could be easily adapted to fit dramatic techniques instead
Verbal feedback log
Choreographic devices page with information to help students when devising/developing.
Technique and motif development posters (on a seperate document)
This resource is an introduction to roles in Dance. It covers
Dancer
Choreographer
Costume designer

This is a remote learning lesson for Swan Lake Reloaded. It includes a series of tasks where students need to identify, describe and evaluate stylistic features of the piece.
Video links are includeded in the ppt for students to watch and compare.
Currently using this for y8/9 students remotely but could be used in a classroom or also with BTEC students if they were studying this piece for Component 1.
This lesson is based on appreciation of SWANSONG by Christopher Bruce. Includes video clips and theory based written tasks analysing the key stylistic features.
This is a one off lesson on Tutting designed to introduce the style and get students to learn and develop some tutting sequences. This would work really well with KS3 dance classes, BTEC TECH groups who are developing their skills and as a cover lesson. Includes links to the tutting tutorials, progress and progress plus tasks and a slide which can be printed as a score grid for students.

Any Questions about delivery please email jHunt@horizoncc.co.uk
This resource is a homework pack that i distributed to my learners over the half term. It gives them a brief and a written example , as well as some information on the physical skills to complete a physical skills audit. The work students produced was excellent and much more detailed as a result of this resource.
This resource features a planning sheet and an accompanying ppt to prepare students for the Component 3 Ideas Log exam.
The ppt talks students through a PIE structure to enhance the detail in student responses and features a fun peer assessment feature.
The planning sheet also includes a structured page for students to add their bulletpoints to in preparation for the exam.
This is an activity designed for students to work from home. I have set my y9 the challenge of completing 1 per week but you could challenge students to complete a line or full house.
Adaptable so you can change the tasks on here to anything else.
This is a full scheme of learning for Emancipation of Expressionism it includes practical lessons and a theory lesson as well as a SOW document and a knowledge organiser. Link to a Forms quiz template here:
