There's a lot of useful vocabulary for students to learn when we teach about LA MAISON. I have three activities that I love to use to get students talking and to reinforce all of the vocabulary they'll need to talk about house and home.

Playing French TABOO is a great way to get students to speak French and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. The them of this TABOO game is LA MAISON. 32 French-English cards are included.

All of the words on the cards are in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students.
This French Taboo game includes the following:
How to play (beginner and advanced levels)
32 Taboo game cards to print, cut out and laminate if possible
*In the upper left corner there's a spot for you to punch holes in the cards so that you can then attach them with a ring for no prep use every time!
Object of the game:
One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

You can use these speaking question cards after teaching themed vocabulary or as a fun interactive activity on a day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way.
Each set contains 30 questions. Almost all of the questions are asked in the TU form and require the answering student to respond using JE. About half of the questions begin with interrogative words encouraging more than OUI and NON responses. Some questions are in the futur proche while others are in the passé composé, present and other tenses.

Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities.
There are many ways you can use this set of task cards:
➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. Answer key is provided for small group work or centers.
➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.
➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.
➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.
➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.
➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.
➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.
➤ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity at the beginning of the school year or right after school holidays.

This is a really fun game to practice with your students who are learning vocabulary about HOUSE AND HOME, and it involves NO PREP. I've included both a beginner and intermediate version of the game. The beginner version has the words written out and the intermediate version only shows pictures. Have a look at the thumbnails to see what they look like.
Each version includes 32 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again.
Here's how this activity works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says I'LL BEGIN starts the game. He says, for example, I'll I have the fireplace. Who has the window? The person who has the card with a window on it says, I have the window. Who has the curtains? And so the activity goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, That's the end!

This is an easy to play 30 minute dice game to practice 36 different regular French -IR verbs in the present tense.
My high school students love this game, and it can get very competitive if you decide to play it as a race (details are explained with the activity).
Students divide up into teams and play a dice game, the dice determining which subject and -IR verb to conjugate in the present tense.

Playing TABOO in English is a great way to get ESL students to speak English and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game focuses on different cities and countries around the world. It is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. Advanced students try to get teammates to guess the word at the top of the card without saying any of the "taboo" words listed below. Beginner students can still play, but they should be allowed to use the "taboo" words to help learn new vocabulary and build sentences in English.

French Adverb Exercises - La Formation des Adverbes et Les Adverbes de Manière
These French adverb worksheets can also be used as a quizzes.
There are 3 worksheets included with answer keys.
Exercise 1: In the first section, students read a sentence and fill in the blank with the adverbial form of one of three adjectives they see in parentheses. In the second section, students transform adjectives they see in French to the adverbial form. In the third section, students must translate adverbs they see in English to French.
Exercise 2: Rewrite sentences replacing underlined adjectives with adverbs.
Exercise 3: Rewrite sentences using the adverb in parentheses placing the adverb correctly in present tense and passé composé sentences.
