GCSE FRENCH: French Trivia Game

This 90 question trivia game is loads of fun for an end of the year or semester game, a back to school activity, a sub plan or use trivia for bell ringer and icebreaker activities. Though his product was created for French classes, it will work for any high school class since the questions are based on general knowledge and not only French related information. I’ve included several different versions (see full details below) including French only and French and English as well as powerpoint versions which will allow you to project the game and play as a class. This trivia game is great fun as a French club activity. This resource includes: 90 trivia cards - French only with answers 90 trivia cards - French only without answers 90 trivia cards - French only without answers - Powerpoint version 90 trivia cards - French and English with answers 90 trivia cards - French and English without answers 90 trivia cards - French and English without answers - Powerpoint version Each trivia question is assigned a point value (the easiest are worth 1 point and the most difficult are worth 9 points). There are a number of ways you can play this game. Here are some of the ways I like to use this game: 1. Have students play in small groups of at least 3. One student calls the questions and verifies the answers. Students keep track of their score and in the end the one with the most points wins. 2. Project the powerpoint version of the game and have students write their answers and points scored on a numbered sheet of paper. You could easily allow students to work in small groups so that they can help each other out. In the end, the group with the most points wins. 3. Classic Jeopardy: Draw the game board which is composed of boxes with points in them on the classroom's whiteboard or project it from a computer. Group students into teams. The game starts when the teacher chooses the first easy box that teams need to answer. Once the first box has been answered, the team that answered correctly can choose the next question. They can choose the hardest questions if they want additional points or they can opt for easier ones for lower amounts of points. For the final round, also known as DOUBLE JEOPARDY the points double. The game ends when all the questions on the board game have been answered and the team with the highest score wins.

La Nourriture - French 20 questions game - No prep speaking activity

(0)
La Nourriture - French 20 questions game - No prep speaking activity The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in this version of the game, students can practice using partitive articles with 52 nouns which are all food and drinks. The food and drink vocabulary used in this game is the same that I’ve included in my set of 75 cards to practice French partitive, definite, and indefinite articles. These two resources are great to use together. This game work for any level as it is written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version! Included: 1 version with vocabulary written in French and English 1 version with vocabulary written in French only** Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity. This game includes 52 words. Many of the words may be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they’ve played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking

(0)
French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking This resource is very similar to another one (also free) in which you’ll have students talking about the house, hotel, vacation, etc. of their worst nightmares. Students will talk all about the house, etc. of their dreams in this one. I like to use these resources one after the other while the content is still fresh, but the vocabulary will change dramatically when students shift from what they would love to what would give them nightmares! This is a no prep, one page activity for intermediate to advanced level students, and the content is perfectly suitable both for primary (French immersion) and secondary curriculums. There are fifteen questions that will have them talking about, for example, the house of their dreams. This is meant to be a paired or small group activity, but it is NOT meant to just have students take turns describing what they would love. The idea is to imagine that everyone in the group is going to live in the house together. There will probably be some things that everyone agrees on, and there will certainly be things they will disagree on. When I have my students do this activity, it’s always fun to watch them debate what is and what is not important. In the end, they can agree to disagree! My students really have a good time with this activity, and I love seeing the imagination that they have! **Here are the 15 conversation starters: DÉCRIVONS…** La maison de nos rêves… L’hôtel de nos rêves… Le jardin de nos rêves… Le restaurant de nos rêves… La ville de nos rêves… L’avion de nos rêves… Les vacances de nos rêves… La voiture de nos rêves… La garde-robe de nos rêves… La chambre de nos rêves… La cuisine de nos rêves… La fête d’anniversaire de nos rêves… La plage de nos rêves… Le lac de nos rêves… Le cinéma de nos rêves…
