Edexcvel CC12a Dynamic Equilibrium. This powerpoint introduces students to reversible reactions, equilibrium in closed systems and then discusses the Haber Process as a manufacturing process that looks at changing the conditions of a reversible reaction to maximise product and profit.

Edexcel Combined Science CC8b Looking at acids - higher students. This powerpoint starts with practice at converting between cm3 and dm3 and vice versa. (Maths skills - converting units) It looks at the difference between strong and weak acids and concentrated and dilute acids. It also discusses the ions in solution and how they relate to pH. (Maths skill - factors)

Edexcel CC10a Electrolysis of Copper Sulphate. This presentation gives students some background knowledge of the procedure, steps to carry out the procedure adn then some questions to ask in the analysis of their results. There is also a slide that summarises the key pints that can be printed off, laminated and put on display.

Edexcel Combined Science CC8c Bases and Salts. This powerpoint starts by looking at naming salts made from metal oxides and acids. It explains what happens to the ions during salt formation and then guides students as to how to make a soluble salt in preparation for the core practical next lesson.

Edexcel CC7b Allotropes of carbon. This presentation explores some giant molecular structures including diamond, graphite. fullerenes and graphene. It uses the structure to explain the properties and compare them.

This introduces resistance, Ohms law and characteristics of components when drawing current-voltage graphs. It includes how to: Describe resistance Calculate resistance using Ohms law Explain the current-voltage characteristics of a bulb, resistor and a diode

Edexcel Combined Science CC8eAlkalis and neutralisation. This powerpoint starts with a quick recap of previous lessons, followed by looking at neutralisation and what happens to the ions involved. Neutralisation in action is discussed and then students are guided through how to make a pure, dry soluble salt from alkalis using titrations. The plenary can be printed off and laminated to make a card sort if desired.

Edexcel CC5c Properties of Ionic Compounds. This presentation starts by looking at the particles and forces present in ionic compounds. It then explains why ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points and finishes by looking at why ionic compounds conduct electricity. This presentation also includes 3 differentiated worksheets and refers to the CC5c.1 practical from Edexcel looking at testing and identifying ionic compounds.

Edexcel CC5b Ionic Lattices. This starts by looking at what ionic lattices are, then moves onto how to write the names of ionic compounds and how to write their formulae using the cross over method. 2 differentiated worksheets are also included . I usually follow this lesson with a lesson on writing word and symbol equations ( see my other powerpoint)

This is a powerpoint I use with my year 8 to familiarise them with the scientific method and analysing data and writing conclusions with evaluations. It sits nicely with my other powerpoint on maths in science for year 8 and results and graphs.

A lesson to introduce ionic bonding to year 11. This should be followed up by more lessons that go into more detail on each section. This could also be used as a revision of ionic bonding before the exams!

This is a power point that describes what an ecosystem is, what food chains and food webs are and also the interdependence between organisms in a food web.

This is a resource I printed in colour, laminated back to back and hole punched one side. I then placed them on students tables to allow them to look at during lessons in order to know how they could progress to the next level.
