KS1&2 The Great Fire of London story and sequencing activity. Learning objective: To sequence and retell the story of the Great Fire of London in order. Pupils cut out the images and descriptions and sequence the story onto a storyboard template. There are three templates attached which support differentiation and reading levels. HA template is numbered only and pupils order the story into the numbered boxes. MA is differentiated using key times when events took place from the main text in the numbered boxes. LA pupils can order the story into the numbered boxes with the support of key sentences which they can match to the main text.

Mountain environments KS2 Geography pp of 27 slides. Complete lesson with talk partner activities, youtube clips, tasks and worksheets. There is a challenge activity and simple plenary/assessment activity at the end of the lesson. Great to link with topics on ‘Landforms’, ‘Explorers’, ‘Weather and climate’. Learning Objectives I must find mountain ranges on a map. I should recognise some of the features of mountains. I could describe mountains using geographical words. I must explain the definition of the words ‘summit’ and ‘valley’. I could explain different types of weather conditions on a mountain.

Florence Nightingale pack of 8 worksheets. I used this set of worksheets with class of KS1 pupils. Includes A4 factsheet of her life with pictures. Great to help pupils start their own research or to use as an information source for writing diaries/letters/newspaper article etc. Template and simple scaffolding for a handwashing leaflet for children to personalise. (Note will need to be cut and pasted onto landscape format for pupil use). Worksheet of Florence with speech bubbles to argue her case for being a nurse. This is a good introduction in preparation for drama or a hot seat activity. Scutari hospital improvements worksheet. ‘Cut and Sequence’ sentence activity of Florence’s life. Sort and stick the Victorian/modern day hospital items activity. Improvements Florence made to the hospitals worksheets with question space to formulate questions for Florence. Also good for preparation for a drama activity. I used this for groups of 4 pupils (in role as 2 reporters + Florence + modern day nurse) with the reporters interviewing Florence about her impact on hospitals and the modern-day nurse saying how Florence’s work has continued today. I have used this with pupils in Years 1-4 to help them retrieve information / develop their knowledge to write about a country in a range of genres (newspaper report, non-fiction report, weather report or information text etc). I have also used it with a guided reading group and a set of questions linked to the country followed up with a written comprehension exercise. In geography lessons I have used this factsheet with a small group and asked the pupils to compare the physical and geographical features of Japan with the UK.

It is targeted at Years 1 & 2 for practise in the areas below. There is a shop front template with priced cakes and bakery items on display. The pupils use the shop to find prices and compare shopping items. There are 12 questions altogether in the booklet. The questions are set out in a simple format with spaces for pupils to write answers and show workings and calculations. Christmas pictures are included alongside the questions which are practical and fun. Answer sheet provided at the end of the booklet. Rudolph’s Learning objectives I can recognise and count coins in £ (pounds) and p (pence). I can create different combinations of coins and make the same amounts. I can solve problems by adding, subtracting and multiplying the values of coins. I can give change. I understand less than and more than when using money.

Picture cards to stimulate speaking and listening. Set of 30 individual cards with unusual subjects to encourage pupils to talk about the context, descriptions, similar situations, feelings and parallels. The pictures are unusual, amusing and surprising to encourage children to use their imaginations and explore ideas that may be stimulated. Eg Picture 1: A sausage in a banana skin – my class found this picture really interesting and surprising. They asked a lot of questions about how a sausage banana could be grown and what it may taste like. One response was: Are we the same on the inside as we seem on the outside? It stimulated a discussion about inner/outer selves and judging others. Pictures include: Reflections in water, lockers, a giant straw tractor, spaceships, hot air balloons, telephone boxes, animals, viaducts, a tree with a face, a dog reading a newspaper, fairy homes, camouflage etc I have included 11 question prompts to stimulate discussion about initial thoughts, feelings, description, mood photographer intention, likes/dislikes, prediction, message, what can we learn from each picture. Useful to help children of most ages and abilities develop language use and articulation, prediction and inference using a fun visual prompt.

Learning objective: To sequence pictures and statements and retell the Easter story in correct order.
