Contains a wealth of resources, exam papers and lessons. Covers a full six/seven week introduction to Non-fiction and is aimed at the GCSE Reading AO's. Has been used to great success in my own classes.

I made this to use with a KS4 group during a taster lesson. There was naturally a lot of explanation and discussion but there are a few easy little tasks they can also do. Hope it's useful for someone. I printed the slides with pictures on them off as big handouts for note-making purposes.

I used a guillotine to split up the SPEED chain in order to encourage students to think about crafting better paragraphs. They then used treasury tags to connect them. I based my answer on the 2019 Othello extract for Spec B - tragedy although it could be used to model any extract-based answer. I then gave out the essay split into paragraphs. You may wish to alter for the ability of your students as this is highest Band 5 level. Once they had decided on the order of the essay they stuck it onto A3 and colour coded each AO. Attached is an example answer for your students to show how to respond to a real question for the “A Christmas Carol” extract question and then a full mark answer to analyse with the students. I videoed my process of annotating and then turning these into an answer - the process was: summary of whole extract, words and word groups, literary devices, sentence types and punctuation, summary of whole extract. (This task only requires AO2- language and structure). If you would like an example writing for Section B I would also be happy to add one or make a new resource.

Resource which shows firstly how to model annotation and then an example answer which covers how to structure an answer to Q3. This is on the Zola Budd/Mary Decker Edexcel Paper 2 for English Language, June 2020 (Edxecel) You could use this in a number of ways, cut and mix up the sentences to show how to build up paragraphs, as sentence starters or simply as a model answer to stick in books after the students have had a go.

Very useful for A Level or undergraduate literature. I hope you enjoy using this. You could potentially use it as a short project, assign a different literary genre and students make their own (good transition from A Level to HE)

A short presentation with links to useful sites and videos with a full mark exemplar to an AQA Paper 1, Part A question which shows how to discuss Seneca. A really useful revision lesson with all questions as well as a model Q4 scanned in for analysis. Works well for a middle ability group but could very easily be adapted up or down. There are sections in the lesson throughout for you to use a visualiser to broadcast either your own, or a student’s answer.

I made this for a mixed ability Y11 group who were shortly to sit their exams. The key point of this lesson is that it is largely student led and you mainly just circulate, discuss and monitor. Theme: AMBITION but very easily adaptable for any other theme/focus.

A really useful mini-knowledge organiser in bookmark form; students find this incredibly useful to work from. Adaptable as to what you have covered. Includes contextual information on the reverse and how to write a response to an extract on the front. Act 1 - full exam question from Act 1, scene ii Model answer (full marks) based on the extract to demonstrate how to achieve the AOs and how to write academic paragraphs in response to an extract.

I have created two lessons or one full WTM if you just use the second half of the presentation. The theme is on the danger of the sea and fits the pre-release info foe 2022. I have used this with a mixed and high ability group and both found it useful. I would recommend wither writing your own examples for the slides following the questions (just a starter para) as we all have our own style or using a web cam (mine is like the one in the images) to show different students’ work after each writing bit to live model marking.

Could be used as a model for a full-mark Pearson iGCSE coursework, or an A Level analysis coursework for another exam board. I would use this as a live walkthrough of of how to structure the essay, or take one paragraph and really closely break it down as to how it has been composed. I hope this helps anyone who is in need of a stretch and challenge exemplar; it could easily be adapted for a different group/ability. This is marked out of AO1, AO2 and AO4 with 10 marks for each component.

Useful for students studying Atonement, Brighton Rock and Browning, Wilde and Crabbe. Has a further list of potential two-text questions which would be great to set as independent essays. I also include two excellent example answers: one which shows how to write on an unseen crime extract (The Mousetrap) and one which is a two-text question based on the crime poems and Atonement. It is worth noting that a play-script is likely to appear soon for the crime unseen component as it has been generally prose so far - this means it is useful for students to be aware of how to write about drama as an extract.
