This bespoke lesson guides students through the Romeo and Juliet AQA exam by helping them to annotate an extract and make clear links to other parts of the play. The lesson has an engaging starter which uses quotes to describe a character, a custom-made exam question, helpful annotations, language features to find, an example student response to the question and links to the AQA marking criteria. This lesson contains everything you need to guide students through the exam. Perfect for use before a mock or before the exam itself. Could also be used for an observation lesson as it shows clear progression from start to finish. This would easily stretch to 2-3 lessons.

AQA ENGLISH LANGUAGE PAPER 2 WRITER'S VIEWPOINTS AND PERSPECTIVES

This lesson focuses on AQA English Language Paper 2. It helps students understand the requirements for the paper by breaking down exactly what is meant by a writer's viewpoint. It contains a small extract for students to annotate and look for explicit / implied meaning. Also features an example Q3 for students and helpful sentence starters. This lesson would ideally suit a less able to middle ability group but could be used as a refresher for top sets. Would also be ideal for Ofsted / Lesson observations as it shows clear progress.

Who am I? Whole school literacy author game

(1)
An 'Easter egg' hunt type game where students must guess the author based on a series of clues. I usually hide these around the school on World Book Day and students are allowed out of class to 'hunt' the clues. The first team to bring back all the correct answers win a prize.

A slide-show with printable posters for classrooms; I usually use these at the start each year to remind students of important punctuation. I have used the slide-show as part of a whole-school assembly and then the challenge at the end is used as a reward scheme.
