Solve 6 math challenges to find the best Easter basket. I use this maths problem with 4 physical baskets so that the children can collectively as a class identify the basket which will be filled with class easter treats. Of course this isn’t necessary, the activity works in its own right.
Find 6 clues by adding 7, 25 & 1000; subtracting 4 digit numbers; finding perimeters of compound shapes; missing number times-table division correspondence; finding non-unit fractions of objects and calculating time duration.
Solve 6 maths challenges to find 6 clues in this Easter themed maths activity.
I use this with 4 actual baskets. The winning basket has easter eggs in for the class, which they get if the majority of the class can solve the clues.
For ease, put children into groups so that they can work together as a team to solve all of the problems.
The challenges cover adding in 4, 8 and 50; subtracting pairs of 3 digit numbers; calculating the perimeter; finding the fraction of a set of objects; matching digital to anaolgue times and finding missing numbers in times-table and division problems.
